Coming Soon: Art21 Presents a Fall Special on PBS
2010 PBS Fall Special
After five seasons of the series Art in the Twenty-First Century, Art21 will return to PBS this Fall to premiere its first film for national television broadcast produced outside of the biennial series. Premiering October 21 on PBS, this hour-long film provides an in-depth look at the work of a single artist. Which artist? We're not saying just yet!

The film will be announced next week, and will be accompanied by a regular stream of new and exclusive content produced to complement the film.

Sign up for our Special Announcements emails or join us on Facebook and Twitter and be among the first to know which artist will be featured in this special new project.

New Videos: Kimsooja and Doris Salcedo
The latest Exclusive videos focus on two artists who look to personal experiences and everyday life to make works that speak to a broader human condition.

Kimsooja: Art & Everyday Life Kimsooja: Art & Everyday Life
Episode #114: With her video Sewing into Walking as a backdrop, Kimsooja tells a story about mending traditional Korean bed covers and realizing that art can be drawn out of everyday activities.

Doris Salcedo: Istanbul  Doris Salcedo: Istanbul
Episode #115: Doris Salcedo discusses her installation for the Istanbul Biennial, describing how she wanted to create a "topography of war" that would transcend the specificity of historical events.

A correction to the previous issue of Art21 News: Though Jeff Koons: Art History was listed as a featured video, the image and title linked to the previous Jeff Koons Exclusive video, Jeff Koons: Potential. Below is the correct link for Jeff Koons: Art History.

Jeff Koons: Art History Jeff Koons: Art History
Episode #112: Jeff Koons describes how he likes to "communicate with other artists" by making art historical references--from Classical to Modern--in his sculptures and paintings.

Keep up with the Exclusive series on the Art21 Blog, or subscribe to the series via RSS or iTunes (note: link opens in iTunes). A blend of newly-shot original filming and previously unreleased archival footage, videos from the weekly Exclusive series focus on singular aspects of an artist's process, significant individual works and exhibitions, provocative ideas, and biographical anecdotes.

 Art21 Educators: Summer Institute Recap
Art21 Educators: Summer Institute
The second year of Art21 Educators is off and running! From July 7th through July 14th, Art21 hosted the second annual summer institute, kicking off what promises to be an exciting year. The institute combines workshops, discussion forums, and conversations with artists (including Oliver Herring, Ursula Von Rydingsvard, and Allan McCollum), with opportunities to see and talk about Art21 films and art on exhibit around the city. Returning to classrooms around the country this fall, the 15 participating teachers will spend the academic year working with Art21 to integrate contemporary artists and multi-media resources into their curriculum.

We look forward to sharing updates along the way. Joe Fusaro's blog column, Teaching With Contemporary Art, will relay news from the program throughout the year. In addition, stay tuned for a series of case studies presenting the work of our first year Art21 Educators.
