Art21 Access '09: Sneak Preview Screenings Worldwide |

Celebrate the upcoming premiere of Season 5 of the Peabody Award-winning television series, Art:21-Art in the Twenty-First Century with
Art21 Access '09, our international screening initiative that includes hundreds of public screenings events across the world.
Art21 Access '09 is partnering with over 400
venues that will host over 567 screenings around the world, from Kalamazoo, Michigan
to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia between September 28 and October 30, 2009. Events are
free and open to the public. To find an event near you, visit the Art21 Access '09 mini site and view the calendar of events and a list
of partnering organizations by state or country.
If you are unable to find an Art21 Access '09 event near you
and are interested in hosting your own event, there's still two days left to
sign up! Schedule your event by
filling out our online form no later then Friday, September 25th and we will mail out your DVD
screener and promotional materials right away.
**Please note all events
registered at this point must be scheduled to take place after October 11 and will not include Season 5 postcards to ensure the Art21 screening materials arrive on time.

A Conversation with Allan McCollum

A Conversation with contemporary artist Allan McCollum will be preceded by a screening of Art:21-Art in the Twenty-First Century episode Systems. Applying strategies of mass production to hand-made objects, in the series McCollum explores the meaning of the unique work of art versus that of mass-produced objects for a society gripped by consumption. He is best known for creating large quantities of nearly identical-yet
still unique-component objects which then constitute a single work of art. The event is free and open to the public. Seating is provided on a first come, first serve basis.

Join artist Season Five featured artist Carrie Mae Weems and Patricia J. Williams, the James L. Dohr Professor of Law at Columbia University in conversation as they explore critical issues of race, history, and memory through the artist's work, making connections to current cultural and political events of our time. A screening of Carrie Mae Weems' segment from the Art:21 episode Compassion will proceed the conversation.
