Pat at Res
This time of year is so often lamented as too hectic and materialistic, and to be sure it can be a difficult period.  Yet the phrase "the blessings of the season" has particular meaning for us at the Center.  This is a time when we reflect on all that has been given us over the past year, and I want to share the staff's and Board's deep appreciation for the countless ways in which we have been blessed by you, our community.  These include, but are certainly not limited to: the volunteers who give so generously (over 100 people, donating over 2,600 hours), the donors who support us so magnanimously, the participants who so enthusiastically praise our programs, the clients who recount how meaningful their work is, and the new people to our community who tell us how they were so warmly welcomed.  So many of you reach out and let us know that we have touched your lives, and I want to reply that it has been mutual.  The Board and staff wishes you and your family a meaningful and light-filled holiday season.

In addition, women new to BodySoul work, but enrolled in the winter session of Cultivating the Feminine Soul are encouraged to attend.  Please wear layered clothing and bring a journal, one dream (old or new), a pillow, and a mat, if you have one. ladderIntroduction to the Dream Circle
8 weeks beg. Wednesday January 13, 7-9 pm
Weyler Greene, PhD
$80 by January 6, $100 after

If you've always wondered what happens at the Dream Circle, now is your chance to find out.  In this 8 week dream group, Dr. Greene will introduce the practice of dream sharing. Dream sharing has been an integral part of many indigenous cultures, allowing individuals to deepen their relationship with others in their community and with the physical and metaphysical world at large. Each week, a small group of people gather to share their own dreams and dreams of others in the group. The purpose of the group is not psychotherapy, but simply to deepen participants' experience of their own dreams.  This group will be experiential, so feel free to bring a dream! New and returning participants welcome.

Jung's understanding of the psyche. In addition, the BodySoul approach is committed to honoring the Feminine aspect of the Sacred in our lives. In an atmosphere of curiosity and respect, participants will use dreams, movement, voice and simple art forms as vehicles to connect to inner experience and to each other. Myth, fairytale and poetry will serve as a backdrop for these explorations.  Participants are asked to make a good faith commitment to attending most sessions.  New participants may not join for this term after the second session. This group welcomes women of all ages and backgrounds. Held at the Winnetka Community House, 620 Lincoln Ave Winnetka, IL 60093.

red bookJung's Red Book Revealed
(a Global Video Seminar)
Friday January 22, 9-12 pm
Dr. Murray Stein (live from Zurich)
$47/ $23 (student)

One of the most carefully guarded Jungian books, C.G. Jung's Red Book, has just been unveiled to the world.  This highly anticipated volume contains the record of his most personal journey, a journey that brought him to the confluence of brilliance and insanity.  With painstaking detail, numerous paintings, images, dialogues and reflections were recorded that were part of his personal archetypal world. It holds the inspiration for most of his profound theories and clinical techniques.

The Red Book has been locked away for almost one hundred years because of its revealing and raw exposure of Jung's soul.  Decades of negotiations with Jung's heirs led to its release in October 2009. Jungian groups around the world will be exploring this book.  The Asheville Jung Center is pleased to host a seminar on the Red Book, presented by Dr. Murray Stein  out of Zurich on Friday January 22. Jung Corner

This is our space for reflections on quotes from Jung.  We invite you to share a favorite quote along with your thoughts by e-mailing us at jung@cgjungcenter.org

"As far as we can discern, the sole purpose of human existence is to kindle a light of meaning in the darkness of mere being."

I think this is a beautiful point of view, especially now in the dark of winter.  What makes us human is our need for meaning, indeed it may even be our greatest yearning.  What we do at the Jung Center is essentially about providing some means (through programs and psychotherapy) and community that may allow each of us to kindle that light of meaning in our own lives, which then perhaps becomes a light to others.

We have some personal items that have been left by community members and our valiant efforts to ask those who drop by if they've left something haven't produced their owners, thus this little inquiry.  If you've been missing a coat or a bracelet that you think you may have left at the Center, please give us a call at 847-475-4848 and describe your item and perhaps you'll be reunited!
