C.S. Lewis Institute
Resources for Discipleship of Heart and Mind

Greetings!

Greetings in the name of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ! On behalf of the facilitators of the C.S. Lewis Institute - Annapolis (George Anderson, John Bishop, Jim Hiskey, and Jim Phillips), I offer you this edition of the CSLI Annapolis Newsletter.

Mission of C.S. Lewis Institute:

The C.S. Lewis Institute was founded in 1976 in the legacy of its namesake as an organization which endeavors to challenge, educate, and disciple those who will, like Lewis, articulate, defend, and live faith in Christ through personal and public life. The Institute's vision complements the work of the Church, equipping thoughtful believers to impact their sphere of influence for Jesus Christ. This discipleship of heart and mind takes place by means of teaching, readings, and mentoring.

Mission of C.S. Lewis Institute - Annapolis:

The Mission of C.S. Lewis Institute - Annapolis is to extend the mission of the C.S. Lewis Institute to the Annapolis community, with a special passion for the students and faculty of Saint John's College and the U.S. Naval Academy. Ours is to disciple the people the Lord brings to us and connect them to each other so that they can lead the Church, the State, and the nations.

April Update:

Greetings!

March was an exciting month for the Kingdom here in Annapolis. Our men and women's St. John's fellowships continue to meet, have inspiring conversations, and grow closer in fellowship. At the end of March, a long awaited and prayed for event took place in McDowell Great Hall at St. John's. The Institute was able to help facilitate the Christian Fellowship from St. John's and Officers' Christian Fellowship from the Naval Academy to plan a joint event with the purpose of bringing the two communities together for dinner, fellowship, worship and encouragement. The hope for the event was to begin a new tradition of building relationships among the Christians at these two prestigious institutions.

The Lord answered prayers and the evening was an incredible time of fellowship, friendship and worship! There were sixty people who came and Daniel, an Annapolis Fellow, shared his testimony and spoke about discipleship. At the end of the evening, many Johnnies and Mids were saying, "Let's do this again!" Praise the Lord for his goodness and faithfulness in making this event happen! Below are some photos from the evening.

Our men's and women's professional fellowships continue to meet once a month for discussion and fellowship. The women are meeting with Art Lindsley at the Aslan House once a month to study his book Love, The Ultimate Apologetic: The Heart of Christian Witness. The men's group is meeting with Jim Phillips at the Wine Cellar for a discussion on Andrew Murray's book Humility.

We are now accepting applications for the 2012-2013 Year One Fellows Program. The goal of this program is the development of solid Biblical beliefs, spiritual depth and moral character in committed disciples of Jesus Christ who are actively engaged for Him in their spheres of influence. If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about the program or to apply online, please click here. To download the online application, click here.

Ongoing
Please pray for the men and women associated with the Institute and the lives they have been entrusted to touch. Our ministry in Annapolis is not about numbers, it is about touching the lives of the men and women God brings to us before they go out into His service.

Aslan is on the move!

Sincerely in Christ,
