CALLS FOR ARTISTS / ARTS OPPORTUNITES

The 1st Annual Plein Air Art Festival:  East Side of Seneca   

 

Damiani Wine Cellars, Atwater Estate Vineyards, Leidenfrost Vineyards, Sheldrake on Seneca, and ARTe invite art and wine lovers to the 1st Annual Plein Air Art Festival.
Between 7am and 3pm on July 28th, 2012 the public is welcome to visit each winery location to watch the artists live at work.  

 

All artists who work in any medium are welcome to apply to participate in the event ONLINE HERE.  

Applications will be accepted until FRIDAY, JULY 20th. The Event is limited to 30 artists.    

 


LIFE'S SO SWEET CHOCOLATES NEEDS ARTISTS  

 

Seeking artists who are interested in creating permanent, candy/chocolate inspired, three dimensional, life size or larger artwork that will be on display and serve as store décor for the second retail location of Life's So Sweet Chocolates at 116 W. Green St, Ithaca (former Ithaca Journal distribution center).   

 

If you have ideas, want to contribute to initial designs or help build/create these amazing pieces, please contact Darlynne Overbaugh.  

 

Supplies will be provided and compensation for time may be available! 

    

 


 

AFCU SEEKS ARTISTS   

 

Alternatives Federal Credit Union is currently looking for artists to display their work in its lobby.   

 

Artists do not need to be a member of  the credit union.  Display time is one month, and artists are able to also display bio information and pricing info.

Summer in Tompkins County means a LOT of outdoor and indoor arts - Summer concerts are just about everywhere (the Commons, Ellis Hollow, Dryden, Myers Park, Ludlowville, Cornell, Taughannock Falls, Groton, and Trumansburg, just to name a few); Grassroots is just around the corner; the Hangar Theatre has begun one season, while the Kitchen Theatre finishes another; Ithaca Shakespeare returns to the Plantations; AND CAP is gearing up for the annual Ithaca Artists Market (MORE on that and other CAP programs below).

ITHACA ARTISTS MARKET - JULY 27th
Artists Market
Art collectors will have another opportunity to "Buy Local" at
the 22nd annual
Ithaca Artists Market,
Friday, July 27th,
from 2pm to 8pm
at the
Ithaca Farmers Market.

Over 70 established visual artists have been juried into the Ithaca Artists' Market to showcase and sell some of the best art in the region.

In addition to the visual artists, 17 Tompkins County arts organizations will have booths, giving the public a chance to learn about their mission, and maybe get a sneak preview of their upcoming events.

The remaining booths will Artists Marketfeature food vendors offering everything from full meals to desserts and chocolate. The Finger Lakes Wine Center will be on hand with wine and beer. Music will set the mood all day long with local musicians Johnny Russo, on trumpet and trombone, Doug Robinson on guitar, and special guests (to be announced).

ARTIST TALK AT THE CAP ARTSPACE
Art Trail Show
Greater Ithaca Art Trail Group Show
through July 31
Stop by the CAP ArtSpace in July to check out a group show of Greater Ithaca Art Trail Artists. 30 of the 45 artists in the trail are showing quite a variety of work! Every inch of the gallery is covered with mosaics, paintings, prints, collage, fiber, sculpture, mobiles, ceramics and photography.   (ArtSpace open 10a - 7p Monday through Saturday)

Third Tuesday Artist Talks:
Three of the participating artists will talk about their work at an informal artist talk on Tuesday, July 17, 6:30 to 7:30pm at the CAP ArtSpace. Marla Coppolino, Lynne Taetzsch and Alice Muhlback will discuss their inspirations and answer questions!

The general public is invited to this free event.

2012 WORKSHOP SERIES CONTINUES
Workshop Each year, CAP offers a full slate of professional development workshops for individuals, organizations,and artists of all disciplines.
Registration is open for our 2012 offerings -  each workshop is $20, or $15 for CAP supporters.

The Arts Funding World
Tuesday, July 24, 6:00 to 8:00pm
Robin Schwartz, CAP Program Director

In this class, Robin will talk about the current climate of grant funding, an overview of the grant funding world, grant prospecting and research, preparing materials and resources for grant writing, (Note: It is recommended that any artists applying for grants also take advantage of CAP's "Presenting Yourself" workshop.)
