Monica Franciscus
"Seascapes"

Wave 5, acrylic and sand on wood, 6

Monica Franciscus will show her most recent work of seascapes done on wood with acrylic and sand on single wood panels, diptychs and triptychs.

"This body of work started when my mother was diagnosed with cancer. I imagined myself looking out over the sea where it is wonderful, peaceful and lonely. The show is simply about nature, the sea and life.  There is provocative composition,(narrow and tall surfaces or very wide, using various panels together or slightly apart.) I experiment with color: black and white, the obvious or completely unrealistic.   Sand has been in my work for a long time. I add it to the shore using larger grains for the nearer foreground to establish perspective and space."
