NEWS IN BRIEF

Ask Governor Cuomo and your legislators to Support Arts + Culture in NYS!

The ARTS NYS website has all the tools you need to write your legislators or even schedule an appointment to meet with them in person to show and tell what the arts mean to you and your community.

ARTISTS BEWARE!
E-MAIL SCAM

Many artists in our community have recently received e-mail solicitations from ELAINE JACKSON with the subject "artsworks purchase."

It names specific works of art posted online and offers to send a cashier's check for the work.

This e-mail is automatically generated and is a SCAM. The con involves sending a forged cashier's check for too much money to the artist, then requesting cash back.

PLEASE do not respond to this message and please share this information with your artist friends.

Greetings!

It's February, and you know what that means - the staff at CAP came out of our offices, saw our shadows, and prognosticated six more weeks of art for Tompkins County.

There's plenty of opportunities to participate in or just soak up the arts through the end of March, so ditch the late winter blahs and get creative. This month's ArtsLetter should give you some ideas...

Cheers,

Brett Bossard, Executive Director

Josh Sperling
"Roses are Red, Violets are Blue, Goldenrod are Goldenrod"

Large acrylic paintings on canvas.  Joshua Sperling's large paintings push pattern and color to the limit and create bold optic experiences.

In both his paintings and his smaller works his use of transformations within the structure of pattern are meditative studies of "what you see is what you get."  This show will highlight a new large triptych that plays on the age old love poem "Roses are red, violets are blue."
