Greetings!

It's no surprise that with THREE institutions of higher learning, April and May are extremely busy months in Tompkins County. Our arts community is matching the pace with a remarkable array of events and opportunities across all disciplines.

Here at CAP, I'm excited to say that many of our new ventures are getting underway this Spring as well. The Spring (W)rites literary festival, our professional development workshops, and the 2010-2011 Greater Ithaca Art Trail map/brochure will all be making appearances in the coming weeks.

I hope you'll have time in this busy season to soak up some art along with some much needed sun!

Cheers,

Brett Bossard

NYFA MARK Artists

" "The Importance of Not Seeing Clearly,"
through April 30

The Importance of Not Seeing Clearly is a multi-media exhibition featuring three regional New York Foundation for the Arts MARK artists: Lorrie Fredette (Rosendale), Dorene Quinn (Utica), and Elizabeth Switzer (Buffalo), and is curated by Ithaca MARK artists Wilka Roig and Ruth Sproul.

The MARK program is the New York Foundation for the Arts' (NYFA) statewide six-month program for visual artists to focus on the professional side of their creative practice. MARK is designed to address the concerns of artists living outside of New York City. Along with Roig, Sproul, and ten other Ithaca artists, Fredette, Quinn and Switzer were part of the MARK 2009 program, which culminated in a weekend event in New York City. As part of this program, one of the goals identified by MARK alumni was to curate and host exhibits showcasing artists from different MARK regions...READ MORE>>
