Greetings!
February can be a blustery time in Central New York, which gives us all the perfect excuse to spend more time inside with the arts.
For artists, there are currently a handful of opportunities to submit their work for inclusion in art shows at a variety of
venues in the region. Check out the "Call for Artists" column on the left in this issue. Other opportunities for area artists in this issue include our ongoing Arts Marketing Forum series and membership in the Greater Ithaca Art Trail.
Art-lovers can visit us inside Center Ithaca to see the latest show at the CAP ArtSpace (more on that below), stop by any of the new exhibits that were featured in this month's First Friday Gallery Night, or attend any of the great arts and cultural events listed at IthacaEvents.com.
And artists and art-lovers alike are welcome to help advocate for the arts in New York at ARTS DAY in Albany on February 24th. Details are included below.
Stay warm!

NYS ARTS DAY - Wednesday, February 24
Sponsored by our statewide advocacy organization, NYS ARTS,
activities on NYS ARTS Day will focus on funding for the arts in the New York
State budget. Governor Paterson's proposed FY 2011 budget includes a 15.5% decrease in local
assistance funding for the New York State Council on the Arts. This could have a direct effect on arts programming here in Tompkins County.
Please join us at the State Capitol on February 24 to
explain and demonstrate how State funding for the arts helps keep communities
vibrant and how this investment contributes to the State's vitality. SIGN UP with NYSARTS, and you'll receive information in advance including NYSCA General fund appropriations, graphs, charts, talking points and tips & tools that you can review before you come to to Albany.
