Keith Frank and Friends at the Rongo!
Keith Frank is arguably the
reigning king of the zydeco circuit, his simple, throbbing style
derived from Boozoo Chavis'. His music is often described as trance
inducing, but the songs are often short and to the point, and
the beat (even more than the accordion) is everything. But what are we telling you? You know Keith Frank, and chances are you love him! We do too and we'll be sure to catch him:Sunday, February 17th, 2008 6PM at the Rongovian Embassy in Trumansburg. | |

Alban Berg Quartet at Bailey Hall
Wednesday, February 20th, 8PM.
For over thirty years, the Alban Berg String Quartet has performed regularly
in music capitals and major festivals throughout the world - and will soon
grace the stage of Cornell University's Bailey Hall, presenting the first
concert on their farewell U.S. tour, a limited engagement that includes
stops at the Library of Congress, Lincoln Center and Yale
University.
The name 'Alban Berg' [early 20th-c composer in Schoenberg's
circle, best-known for his operas Wozzeck and Lulu] symbolizes the quartet's
mission of giving the most harmonious interpretation of the works they
perform, and of extending their repertoire from the classical to the
avant-garde. One of the most distinguished and outstanding string
quartet ensembles of our time, the ABQ has received over 30 major
international recording awards, representing virtually every top prize
of note.
Program*
HAYDN: Quartet in G Major, Op. 77, No. 1, Hob.III:81
BERG: Quartet for Strings, Op. 3 (1910)
BEETHOVEN: Quartet in A Minor, Op. 132
* subject to change at artist's discretion

La Finta Giardiniera at Ithaca College
By Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Conducted by Mark Kaczmarczyk Directed by David Lefkowich
Serpetta loves Don Anchise. Don Anchise loves Sandrina. Sandrina loves Count Belfiore. Count Belfiore, believing to have murdered his former lover, is about to marry Arminda -- but why does that lovely gardener's girl look so familiar?
In this "opera buffa" Mozart gives us mistaken identity, spurned heroines, raving lunacy and the highest fits of Italian passion. Returning guest director David Lefkowich will keep us riveted until wedding bells ring and order is restored to Lagonero once more.
The opera runs from February 19th-29th and is already selling out...get your tickets now!

Music's Recreation Presents Count Me In
Music's Recreation is devoted to exploring new concert formats that
integrate educational commentary and an informal atmosphere with high
level performance in order to spread a love of, and cultivate a new
audience for, classical music.
Music's Recreation and Women's Works team up to reveal meter's musical
impact. Come feel the differences between 3/4 and 6/8 and hear the
metric pattern of a poem work its way into a song. Using examples
ranging from medieval chant to 20th century rap music, Music's
Recreation and Womens' Works will illustrate how meter can lead you to
waltz, march or boogie, or make you wonder which to do. This concert
celebrates Women's History Month by bringing you a program of music
entirely by women composers.
Join them, Sunday March 3 from 3-4PM at the First Baptist Church in Ithaca.
