FEB. 5 - NYFA "SOS" grant deadline & FEB. 6 - Arts-In-Education workshop
|
The next Strategic Opportunity Stipends (SOS) deadline is Feb. 5. SOS provides
grants designed to help individual artists of all disciplines take advantage of
specific, unique opportunities that will significantly benefit their work or
career. These are $100-$600 grants for forthcoming opportunities (not
necessarily projects) that are distinct from an artist's ongoing work. The February 5 deadline is for opportunities occurring
between March 1 and June 30. Go to www.nyfa.org to find the application, guidelines and instructions. The SOS administrator for Tompkins County is The Arts of the Southern Finger Lakes in Corning. Questions: Lynn Dates, SOS Coordinator: (607) 962-5871 x
226, TheARTS@eARTS.org
Even though I do not administer the SOS grant for Tompkins County, I can offer advice (see my e-mail left). Or feel free to call Lynn at the number above - Robin ______________________________

This workshop, lead by Marty Evans, is geared toward Teachers, Teaching Artists and members of Cultural Organizations and will give you tools to help you plan your Arts-in-Education residency. Whether you have just an idea for a project you want to explore further or
are ready to apply for funding this year, this workshop will help you design a successful AIE residency and help you write a winning grant proposal. Marty was recently the Director of Arts in Education (AIE) for The ARTS of the Southern Finger Lakes. She is retired from Watkins Glen Central School where she
taught for 24 years.
For 10 of those years she helped direct the arts integration / ESP program which this year received the Creative Ticket Award for New York State sponsored by the New York State Alliance for Arts in Education and the Kennedy Center. Marty has taught AIE at GST BOCES and
given numerous presentations including: NYS Common Ground Conference; NYS

If you are an artist
interesting in teaching in the schools or a teacher interested in
having artists in your classroom, thsi workshop is a great opportunity. Marty is wonderful. I'm pretty sure it is free. Arts-in-Education" refers to a partnership of teacher(s) and
artist(s), where art is integrated into non-art subjects. Check out
CAP's website (see left column), go to grants, "Local Capacity Building". The attachments are useful. - Robin
