First Person: Stories from the Edge of the World Exploring the limits of endurance and knowledge Friday, January 18, 2008 at 8:00pm State Theatre, 107 West State Street, $25/$20
Through the ages, adventurers have tested their physical and mental limits to discover new worlds - and to teach the rest of us about our place in the universe. In this multimedia celebration of exploration and discovery, NPR's Neal Conan reads first-person accounts of great explorers, illustrated by maps and pictures and backed by a rousing musical score. Ibn Battuta recounts his travels to 14th Century Iraq. George Mallory writes home before attempting the summit of Mount Everest. Charles Darwin confesses his doubts on a voyage that will change everything. The music of Ensemble Galilei with Celtic Harp, fiddle, recorders, whistles, viola da gamba and percussion evoke the mystery and sorrow, elation and hilarity of these journeys that changed the world.

Bed No Breakfast at the Kitchen
Six people are waylaid by a blizzard in Michigan's Upper Peninsula and seek shelter at the UP B&B - a bed and breakfast probably not found on the list of "best cozy and quaint" places to stay. The owner would prefer no guests at all and was certainly not expecting so many this particular night.
How long can this group of strangers wait out the storm outside before a storm erupts inside?
A new musical from Rachel Lampert and Larry Pressgrove, the team that created Tony and the Soprano, The Angle of the Sun and Comfort Food.
This show runs from January 17th-February 10th.

La Finta Giardiniera at Ithaca College
By Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Conducted by Mark Kaczmarczyk Directed by David Lefkowich
Serpetta loves Don Anchise. Don Anchise loves Sandrina. Sandrina loves Count Belfiore. Count Belfiore, believing to have murdered his former lover, is about to marry Arminda -- but why does that lovely gardener's girl look so familiar?
In this "opera buffa" Mozart gives us mistaken identity, spurned heroines, raving lunacy and the highest fits of Italian passion. Returning guest director David Lefkowich will keep us riveted until wedding bells ring and order is restored to Lagonero once more.
The opera runs from February 19th-29th and is already selling out...get your tickets now!
