Dear Friends,
As we near the Passover holiday, I am excited about the many programs and activities being run in our community both during the holiday and in the coming months. In this newsletter you will find information on Passover seders being run by various synagogues and organizations. A great way to meet new people or check out a synagogue is to attend a community seder there and meet the members. Be sure to check the HudsonJewish website calendar as more seders are likely to be posted.
You will also find a new section in our Newsletter beginning this month, entitled Children's Programs and Activities, which will bring you specific information on programs and/or events for our youngest community members. If you know of a program that should be included in this section, please be sure to let us know.
Most importantly, this month I want to let you know about a wonderful and exciting program that will be expanding in our Community; The PJ Library program. This is a free program, sponsored by the Harold Grinspoon Foundation, which provides age appropriate Jewish books, CDs, and materials for children ages 6 months through 5.5 years who live in Hoboken, Jersey City, and Bayonne. It has been shown that providing children with exposure to Jewish concepts, holidays, and education while they are young has a direct relationship to their future involvement in Jewish communal life when they grow up. You will also delight in seeing your children's faces when they receive their very own mail each month, addressed to them, containing a new book pertaining to an upcoming holiday or Jewish concept. The program is currently set to roll out its second phase, and enrollment is due to re- open shortly. We will be providing you with further information on sign-up opportunities in next month's Newsletter. You may find more information and sign up for this wonderful program now on www.PJLibrary.com . We will also be featuring this program at the upcoming Hoboken Arts Festival on Sunday, May 6, 2012 from 11am-6pm on Washington Street in Hoboken. Be sure to stop by the HudsonJewish booth, meet our Board and volunteers, get information on our various programs, or just spend some time with us. We look forward to seeing all of you there!
Please feel free to reach out to any of our Board Members via email (ex. FirstName@HudsonJewish.org). We would love to hear from you!
Warmly,
Michelle Levine, Chairperson Hudson Jewish Community Forum, A New Jersey Nonprofit Corporation having 501(c)(3) status
