  High Holidays Appeal 2010
Dear Friends,

For so many Jews worldwide, the next few weeks are a beautiful time for annual self-reflection.  How well did we spend the last year with our loved ones, friends and community?  Did we do the very best we could, and if not, how can we do better in the coming year?

At HudsonJewish, we too have been reflecting on what our vibrant non-profit has contributed to the community and why your support is so important.  Since our founding four years ago, the all-volunteer HudsonJewish project has worked to build a sense of kinship, cooperation and community among Jews in the Hudson County region, which is just being rediscovered after decades of Jewish emigration from the area.  Among other accomplishments, HudsonJewish volunteers have:
  • Created a forum that regularly brings together the area's Jewish leaders to work together in broad cooperative efforts
  • Presented programs, such as the monthly HudsonJewish "Salon", and film screenings (the "Jews of Cuba" film drew a crowd of more than 60 people)
  • Developed and presented an annual "Hanukkah on the Hudson" event -- the only truly community-wide event that brings Jews together from a dozen towns in our area
  • Established a booth at the twice-annual Hoboken Street Fair to identify new Jewish residents in the area -- extending them a warm welcome and furnishing a central address for all local Jewish resources
  • Maintained an informative website at www.HudsonJewish.org that provides up-to-date information on all local synagogues and other Jewish organizations and activities
  • Published a monthly newsletter to knit the Jewish community together and inform it of developments and events of interest.
The Jewish community of Hudson County is experiencing unprecedented growth and HudsonJewish needs your help to continue to serve it.  You have the opportunity, as you reflect on Jewish life and look toward the New Year 5771, to impact not only the lives of your loved ones and friends, but of our entire Jewish community.  Your tax-deductible contribution to HudsonJewish makes it possible for our volunteers to continue their work and to extend our services as the local Jewish population expands.
