How to Get Out of Your Own Way: The Power of Focus

and Forgiveness

Ready to get out of your own way? Since you're the only one in your way (Full Responsibility), I hope your answer is YES! Then here are two of the best 8 to Great methods for doing so:

1. Choose Your Focus
Someone at the party asked the 50-something woman how she was doing. She heard it as a call to dredging-for-downers and began her blow-by-blow description of her dramas to those standing close enough to hear.

She reminded me of the old me, who used to believe that people really wanted that kind of heart-wrenching saga, when we just want to support each other.

Today I choose my focus, and my conversation exchanges begin differently. Rather than asking someone, "What's new?" which might elicit "the rising cost of college tuition,"  I love to ask, "So, what's been the biggest blessing (happiest highlight) in your life lately?" The response is just as honest, but the individual feels better as they share it, and as a result, they attract better things into their lives.

Likewise, when folks I hadn't seen for awhile would ask me what was "up," I used to answer with what was "down." I'm not completely sure why. Perhaps so I wouldn't sound like I was bragging (?!?) Give me a break!

Now I have given myself a break. When I am introduced to someone new or run into an old acquaintance, I've forgiven myself for being so seriously serious. I usually answer with something like, "Life just gets better and better. Look, I've even manifested talking to you at this wonderful event!" I save my processing challenges for my closest friendships.

Which brings us to the other powerhouse habit for getting out of our own way...

2. Forgiveness
8 to Great reminds us of the basics of forgiveness:
-  We forgive for ourselves, not for the other person. We forgive in order to be free, to find peace, and to claim our power over the past.
- Forgiveness is not forgetting. It is releasing the need for resentment, regret and revenge.
- Forgiveness is truly complete only when we sincerely want the best for the other individual.

When we are stuck in unforgiveness, High-Way 6 reminds us to write a letter to that person expressing our feelings and freeing them to go have a good life - debt paid. Then we burn it. When we disconnect from whether or not "they" are remorseful for their actions, we are fully and finally free

Thanks to two new trainers, Dr. David Geurin and Coach Robby Hoegh of Bolivar High School, I was recently introduced to one of the best examples of forgiveness I've seen. Since a picture is worth a thousand words, and a video worth 100,000, I offer you the gift of Mary Johnson in this 3-minute video:

Dear Hearts, I am so grateful for every one of our 10,000 readers waking up every day ready to 95 on The Power Pyramid.  Our way IS the Higher-Way when we follow these beautiful concepts based on ancient Scriptures. And we can get OUT of our way and back ON our way by

Choosing our Focus. "Fill your minds with everything that is true, good and worthy of praise...."

And Forgiving "...those who trespass against us."  When we do, the dreams God has planted in our hearts will find their way, too.

Gratefully,
MK

I cannot describe how much this book and training have changed my life! Now I can see clearly how living in the past or worrying about the future ruins our present. I will push for this to be taught to each and every student at my school. Every student needs this information as much as I did.
