"Bowl Full of Love" Valentine's Activity |
The Bowl Full of Love
A. Everyone is invited to bring one or more things that they don't need/want or that they just want to share. It can be a book, candy, cologne, a CD, a plant, whatever as long as it's in good shape! As the teacher, be sure to bring extra (cookies, markers, etc.) so that everyone gets a gift.
B. On Valentine's Day everything that is brought is either put into a large bowl or the name of the item is written on a sheet of paper and put into the bowl.
C. Each person who wants to participate (whether they brought something or not) sits in a circle. The person whose birthday is the soonest after V-Day begins. When they are given the bowl they share one thing they are grateful for and then select
something out of the bowl.
D. The bowl continues to be passed around the circle to the right until everything is gone.
And as always, journaling after this activity is a great-ful idea!

"Everybody Loves Love" Valentine's Activity |
Grateful for and Grateful now that...
Everyone loves to be in love. As Valentine's Day approaches, some students are in a romantic relationship and some are not. Here's an exercise that makes it a great day for everyone!
For this Gratitude Exercise, invite participants to sit in a circle. Each person who chooses to participate either shares:
- "I'm grateful that (my boyfriend makes me laugh)..." if they are IN a relationship right now. This is a regular gratitude.
OR
- "I'm grateful now that (she loved what I got her for Valentine's Day)..." if they are NOT in a relationship yet. This is pre-intending for what is to come! Remind them not to get specific with details like names or hair color, etc. It's important here to stick with general statements that focus more on the good feeling outcome than the who, when or how.
Go around the circle 2 or 3 times to really get the feel of it. Be sure to take part yourself. It's a full "95" feel good!!! |
