October 2011 Newsletter

The summer goes by in the blink of an eye - and then suddenly it's Halloween time! The kids get excited to wear their costumes and we love to see them in costume so bring everyone to our 11th annual Halloween Party on Sat. Oct. 22nd @ 5pm. We have four contests & prizes so invite your friends and join us for a fun FREE family event!

Dancers are also encouraged to wear their costumes to dance the week of Halloween.

PUMPKIN DECORATING CONTEST

Decorate your pumpkin at home (carve, decorate, paint, etc.) and bring it to the studio for our party. Be sure your name is on the pumpkin somewhere. You may bring pumpkins to the studio at any time in October.

COSTUME CONTEST

Most creative? Most authentic? Most original? Our panel will choose the best costumes - here's your chance to get another use out of that costume!

June Performance Dates Announced

Check your file for the announcement letter. The bottom portion of the paper must be returned by Halloween accompanied by costume deposits or authorization to use the card on file for costume payments.

Photo Shoot - Mon. June 4, 2012 - 5pm @ studio

The class and individual photos will taken on Monday June 4, 2012 at the dance studio beginning at 5pm. Specific times for each class will be assigned in March and will be included in your Recital Handbook. Photo shoot runs quickly (and even ahead of schedule) - everyone's photos are finished by 7:30pm.

Dress Rehearsal - Tues. June 5, 2012 - 5pm @ Westford Academy

We begin promptly @ 5:00pm and need to be out of the building by 8:30pm. I will try to keep dress rehearsal running smoothly, but, ultimately, it's up to the students and prompt attendance. Keep in mind that our rehearsals run MUCH SHORTER than most dance studios. I understand that it is a school night and weekday so I schedule things accordingly.
Arrival for dress rehearsal - 4:15pm for all dancers except intermediate and advanced dancers. They should arrive between 3:30pm-4:00pm so they can adequately warmup and arrange costumes.
Dress rehearsal will run in the order of the show with the finale rehearsed at "intermission". Students in Act One only must remain at dress rehearsal through "intermission" to rehearse the finale. Students only in Act Two need to arrive in time to run the finale at "intermission" (approx. 6:15pm).

Attendance at dress rehearsal is MANDATORY.

This is the only rehearsal where the students learn to adjust to the stage. Choreography often involves partners and groups and with missing dancers, it is very confusing. Furthermore, it is very dangerous to perform onstage live for the first time.

Cast Party - Thurs. June 7, 2012 - 5pm @ studio
The cast party is an optional and informal get-together at the studio when we show the DVD from the dress rehearsal. This allows the dancers to see themselves and make any necessary corrections for the day of the show. It is also a nice time for the faculty to connect with the dancers before the show.

Performance - Sat. June 9, 2012 - 1pm (one show only) @ Westford Academy

Arrival for the show - 12:15pm for all dancers except intermediate and advanced level dancers who should arrive by 11:00am to prepare costumes and sufficiently warmup. Dancers in Act 2 only need to arrive by 12:45pm.

Costume Deposits Due by Halloween

Costume deposits are due by Halloween! Children's costumes will cost approximately $78.00 while other costumes are more expensive due to production costs, styles, fabric, etc. While I choose costumes on the lower end of the price spectrum to keep everything affordable, costumes are considerably higher this year.

Combination classes including Preschool FUN and KinderFUN only need one costume, yet they will perform 2 dances on stage.
All other classes require one costume per class.

Costume deposits - due by Halloween (Oct. 31st)

Clients enrolled in periodic automatic billing on a debit/credit card will have costume deposits added to November's tuition on Nov. 1st.
Clients paying by check monthly need to submit costume deposit by Halloween (Oct. 31st). Check payments not rendered by Halloween will be automatically charged to the debit/credit card on file on Nov. 1st. Note that Halloween is on Monday and we are closed. Your last chance to drop off costume deposit by check is Saturday Oct. 29th @ 10:15am. Please plan accordingly.

Costume balances - due Jan. 31st

Clients paying by check monthly need to submit costume deposit by JANUARY 31ST. Check payments not rendered by Jan. 31st will be automatically charged to the debit/credit card on file on Feb. 1st.
