We want clients just like you so we ask that you send referrals our way - forward our emails and tell everyone about us.  Normally our referrals net you $10 per referral with no limit, however for September we are doubling the benefit to $20 per referral with no limit.

• Friend (not immediate family member) must be registered before Sept. 30th
• Friend (and you) must remain in class throughout the school year.
• $20 credits will be applied toward semester 2 or final tuition payment.

Referrals revert to $10 per referral October 1st.

Please be sure to use the referral cards on the desk so we may keep track and credit your account properly.

Invite your friends and family to a dance class the week of September 26th-October 1st.  If they choose to register for classes by Sept. 30th and remain in class through the recital, you will earn $20 PER REFERRAL (see above).  Please use the postcard from your welcome folder (see below) as an invitation for your friend(s) to try class.  Friends MUST submit completely filled out postcard (signed by parent) to try the class.  If you need more cards, ask!  Dancers who bring friends will earn a surprise gift!

 
Hip Hop and Jazz - ages 7+
We have a variety of hip hop offerings for you: 

• Tues, 7:30-8:30pm- preteen hip hop (NO experience necessary) 
• Wed 4-5pm - kids hip hop ages 7-10 (NO experience necessary)
• Wed, 8:15-9:15pm- teen hip hop (NO experience necessary)
• Thurs, 6-7pm- Jazz age 7-9 approx (NO experience necessary)
• Thurs, 5:30-6:30pm - preteen contemporary (some experience necessary)  

 
Yoga - Saturdays 9-10:15am

Do you want to dance with some So You Think You Can Dance celebrities??  Remember these names?

 

There is a convention Jan. 21-22, 2012 in Danvers, MA (home of Coco Key Water Resort) that should be worth a group outing (ages 11+)!  I would love to have the intermediate and advanced level dancers participate (and teachers ...).  We had some dancers participate last year and they all had a ball!  It would be great to have more dancers there this year!

Tuition is $180 (if you register before Oct. 1 - make your plans NOW) and observer bands are $30.  This is not a competition, but rather a convention - I'd love to have you participate!  Let me know ASAP if you are interested.

If you have registered in person, by fax, by phone or by email, you have consented to the policies set forth by Dance Expressions Unlimited.  Please take a moment to review the tuition notes on page 8 in your welcome handbook so that you may understand the tuition policy as well as everything else.

A brief recap of the financial policies:

• It is strongly suggested that payments are set up for automatic periodic billing.  This eliminates forgotten payments and allows a single day for processing payments - which means more time is spent on class preparation.
  

• If paying tuition by check monthly - tuition is due BEFORE the first of the month for the following month (eg:  October's tuition is due September 30th)

• Any outstanding payments (monthly tuition, semester tuition, costume deposits, costume balances, etc.) will be automatically charged to the credit card on file. 
  

• If you choose to pay monthly by check and we need to charge your credit card twice due to late payments, we will automatically adjust your account to periodic billing charged to the credit card on file for your convenience and ours.

The hours saved with regard to collections can now be spent on class plans, choreography, event planning, and recital preparation, not to mention other administrative duties. 

• The door will open/unlock 15 minutes prior to the start of the first class of the day.  Please refrain from knocking before the door is unlocked to have the door opened early.  This time is necessary for the teachers to prepare for class, meet as a team to discuss studio matters, and plan for the various shows and family events at the studio.  15 minutes is ample time for the dancers to get ready.  While we understand that many dancers are coming right from school, this planning time for the teachers is important and ultimately benefits the dancers.  Please respect this policy.
• Monday Holidays - Due to declining attendance in recent years, there are NO CLASSES on the Monday holidays this year. No classes on Columbus Day in Oct, MLK Day in Jan, Memorial Day in May (Presidents Day in Feb is Feb vacation).  Dancers are welcome to makeup classes for those holidays - check your child's dance bag as options will be distributed the first week of classes. Despite the holidays, we will still complete the dance curriculum before the year is over. 
• The observation monitor will be on once a month (end of the month) for younger classes (combination classes). For the older classes, the observation monitor will always be on (if there is not a combination class/younger class in the opposite studio).  
• Most combination classes begin with tap shoes first to expedite the changing of shoes during class.
• Write your children's names inside their dance shoes AND dance bag so we may return them if they get left behind (many kids have the same dance bag).
• Please have your child use the bathroom at home before you leave for the dance studio (to eliminate the monkey-see, monkey-do bathroom encounter).
• Used shoes - we have a variety of used shoes that dancers donate to the studio once they have grown out of them. Please note that teachers cannot fit shoes during class time - ask a student demonstrator for assistance. They are available to purchase (CASH ONLY):
  • $5 for ballet
  • $8 for patent leather tap
  • $10 for jazz
  • $25 for jazz sneakers or leather jazz/tap

Dancers Amanda Untracht and Danielle Walsh have graduated from the Dance Teacher Prep Course, a 3 year program developed by Audrey Dascomb RDE.  The three year course is a comprehensive curriculum that teaches student assistants and future dance teachers how to teach and includes the information that isn't covered in traditional teacher programs: classroom management, child development, teaching strategies, dance class format, terminology, music theory, dance history, creative movement, anatomy and much more. Participants have practical study where they assist with classes regularly and are required to teach multiple times on their own to pass the course. Untracht and Walsh, this year's graduates, join Lauren, Danielle and Deanna Boucher, Ashley Belleville, and Katie O'Connor, other graduates of the Dance Teacher Prep Course.
