spring beer & winefest
April 2009
Easter Weekend? That means it's time for the Spring Beer & Wine Fest!

Don't miss this golden opportunity to sample from 50+ breweries and 25 wineries THIS Friday and Saturday, April 10th & 11th at the Convention Center! Not too crowded, not too hot or cold, and the price is right too.

While there, be sure to come by Booth #100 and say "Hi!". I will be exhibiting and selling the Happy Hour Guidebook for only $10.00 -- they make the best Easter, birthday or Mother's Day gifts!

I will also have a preview/peek of my upcoming Oregon Wine Country Guidebook there (out end of June).
So to help keep up the celebration all month (or year), below are some favorite places to get good wine for under $5.00 a glass at Happy Hour at some of our best restaurants! Isn't that so nice of them!?
THINKING WINE?
GiltClub Top WINE Favorites
At Happy Hour, enjoy a glass for under $5.00 with great food AND gorgeous atmosphere! Check your book and their websites for more details.

Gilt Club  (photo at right) -- A very favorite of all time and a wonderful place to enjoy that wine! Perfect mix of swanky-chic decor, delicious Happy Hour food AND $5.00 deals on good wine too. Don't forget to use your COUPON from the book for 40% off dinner after 10:00pm.

Okay, really, ALL these places are super-extra-nice inside and have top food to enjoy too -- and again -- wine deals! It's really hard to limit my exclamation marks! I can't do it!

Carlyle -- Wow -- one of Portland's top restaurants invites  us join them for MUCH less at Happy Hour. Pleasant people and plentiful parking!

Caprial's Bistro-- Only THREE dollars a glass here and OMG! The food!! Don't be missing out on this one people!

Olea-- THANKS for being so great (and only $4.00 per). The very best fries in the city to boot!

Palomino -- $4.00 wines and $5.00 wood-fired pizzas at a pretty popular place in the Pearl.

Serratto -- Say Si! to the $4.00 wine and delicious Italian!

Thirst Wine Bar & Bistro -- Sample the best of the Northwest with $2.00 tastes. River view -- and it's getting nice out!

Wild Abandon -- They have Happy Hour down to a science! I hear all the time how people are so thrilled to have discovered this place via the book. Be sure to use that HHGB 2-for-1 COUPON in the back.

More Must-mentions:

Cafe Nell -- Too cute! You simply MUST go.

Carafe
-- More casual (but nice) French bistro serving the wine in way-too-cute mini-carafes for just $4.50-$6.00.

H5O -- Mod-eclectic interior with $12.00 bottles of wine to share. Bring a group and plan to stay.

Pour -- Really?! Only $3.00 wines and $2.00 beers?! It almost makes me cry. LOVE, love, love Pour!

Sapphire Hotel-- Possibly the best place in town to sip?
