GOAL's 4th Annual Firearms Safety and Education Day for MA Legislators a Tremendous Success

Gun Owners' Action League hosts MA Legislators for 4th Annual Firearms Safety and Education Day for MA Legislators.

Rep George Peterson (9th Worcester) spending time with the Auto Ordnance Thompson M1

Gun Owners' Action League (GOAL) in conjunction with the NSSF, Smith & Wesson, Kahr Arms/Auto Ordnance, Savage Arms, and Federal Ammunition were joined by more than 60 MA legislators and their staff for their 4th annual Firearms Safety and Education day held at N. Leominster Sportsmen's Club in Lunenburg MA.

The event which educates MA legislators and their staff about the proper, safe use of firearms, works to dispel the inherit fears that many who have never been exposed to the use of firearms in a positive light feel.

The day began with an introduction and welcome from GOAL's Director of Education Jon Green, who then gave a safety briefing, followed by sending the attendees in groups off to the ranges.

On tap for the day were trap shooting, handgun shooting which ranged from .22 to S&W 500 Mag, and rifle shooting which also included a wide range of calibers, from .22 to Winchester .300 Mag.

On the line the attendees worked closely with an abundance of highly experienced instructors who showed them proper form, stressing safety, and good technique. It was truly amazing watching the many first time shooters progress in ability and confidence with those few hours of range time.

Rep Kim Ferguson (1st Worcester) keeps score at the trap match. Rep Peterson once again retained the State House championship.

At day's end, the many in attendance went home with a new perspective on what it means to be a firearms enthusiast, of those, many expressed interest in acquiring an LTC, and eventually their own firearms.

We at GOAL, consider that a huge success.

Thanks to the National Shooting Sports Foundation, Smith & Wesson, Kahr Arms/Auto Ordnance, Savage Arms, Federal Ammunition, N. Leominster Rod & Gun, and all of our volunteers for ensuring the events great success.

Fast & Furious: Why Eric Holder Will Lose the Legal Fight
Federal courts could soon decide a fight between Congress and Attorney General Eric Holder on the Operation Fast and Furious gun-running scandal. If Republicans persevere, this is a battle that Holder should lose in what would be a humiliating defeat for President Barack Obama.

Most Americans have now heard that our government allowed drug cartels to illegally smuggle thousands of guns from the U.S. into Mexico. The National Rifle Association has relentlessly pursued the White House and Department of Justice (DOJ) about Fast and Furious for over a year, and the massive gun-rights organization has only increased its focus in recent months.

But in addition to decrying the gun-smuggling activity, the NRA has been pushing for information regarding who knew what in the administration, and any related political objectives being pursued by Team Obama.

Chris Cox, the NRA's chief lobbyist, declared at the organization's annual meeting in April: "The Obama administration poured gasoline on the raging fire of murder and mayhem on our southwest border. But to cover their tracks they tried to blame NRA members and the Second Amendment."
