Representative Gobi Takes a Stand for the 2A | |
GOAL would like to thank Representative Anne Gobi for working with us in trying to resolve the issues and confusion caused by the misinformation coming out of EOPS.
Recently she wrote a letter to Secretary Heffernan asking for resolution of the "FFL Letter issue". Please take a moment to email Rep Gobi a note of thanks!
July 1, 2011
Mary Elizabeth Heffernan, Secretary Executive Office of Public Safety and Security One Ashburton Place, Room 1301 Boston, MA 02108
Dear Secretary Heffernan,
It has been brought to my attention, by a large number of constituents and law enforcement officials, that the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security has released a letter regarding the Massachusetts Assault Weapons Ban. While this letter is undated and unsigned, it has raised the concern of individuals, officials and businesses throughout my district.
The letter in question presents itself as an "Advisory to Massachusetts Licensed Firearms Dealers". However, this letter erroneously leads individuals to believe that they are in violation of law if they are in possession of certain firearms. Among the incorrect statements made in the letter, it has led many law enforcement officials to believe that they are in violation of law, and that they are exposing themselves to prosecution. As the State Representative for many rural communities, where law enforcement officials must purchase their own firearms, I am especially concerned that such incorrect information is being propagated as a result of this letter. I am sure this was not your intent.
Regardless, citizens and businesses alike are altering their habits based on incorrect information obtained from this letter. For the sake of our law enforcement officials, businesses and citizens, I ask that you please release a statement clarifying Massachusetts laws on firearm possession, especially on those firearms designated as "assault weapons".
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at 617-722-2210. Thank you.
Yours truly,
Anne M. Gobi State Representative

Double Barrel Dog Days! Donate and YOU Might Win!

Dear Fellow Freedom Fighter, In the last five years the Right to Keep and Bear Arms has been under a steady dishonest attack. During this time period, the Governor attempted to impose new regulations to require police details at public shooting events - you stood with GOAL and we stopped it! During this time period, several cities and towns were illegally overcharging for firearm licenses - you stood with GOAL and we stopped it! During this time period, the Governor wanted to imprison lawful citizens and licensed retailers for purchasing more than one part of a firearm in a month- you stood with GOAL and we stopped it! ---- NOW ---- This year legislation has been filed to define every mechanical action gun as an assault weapon and then BAN them - With your help GOAL will be there to stop it! (Assault weapon according to new legislation?) There is legislation to mandate costly liability insurance on every handgun you own - With your help GOAL will be there to stop it! The current administration has launched a website to illegally gather information on lawful gun owners - With your help GOAL will be there to shut it down! With your support GOAL will continue the fight to restore freedom. Each year that goes by our enemies renew a relentless attack on our civil rights. With your help, we will grow stronger and continue to stop them. The fight to regain and protect our freedoms is not over by any means, but with your help there is no doubt we will prevail. Every time the enemies of freedom launch another outrageous attack, lawful gun owners garner more support from the general public. Our MassGunLawReform.com effort has brought to light the corruption of the current licensing system as well as the failure of the 1998 Gun Control Act to stem the tide of violence in the Commonwealth. With your help we have brought the truth to thousands of people around the state that the Gun Control laws in Massachusetts have actually resulted in a 200% increase in gun related crime and an all out assault on lawful gun ownership resulting in an 85% reduction in licensed gun owners! The evidence for reforming the Commonwealth's gun laws is overwhelming and the public is beginning to get the message. Enclosed with this letter is our Dog Days of Summer Fundraiser donation form. For every donation of $25.00 you will be entered into a free drawing to win a $1,000.00 ticket to the Matt Light Celebrity Shootout held at Addieville East Farm in Mapleville, Rhode Island on Tuesday, September 20, 2011. The winner will also receive a Beretta 30" 686 Silver Pigeon 12 Gauge Shotgun. The winner will be drawn on Friday September 2nd, 2011 at 12:00 pm. Please help GOAL continue in our fight to restore and protect the freedoms of our fellow citizens. Your generous donation will help ensure that our enemies will not go unchallenged. Thank you for your generosity and the opportunity to continue to fight for our freedom. Sincerely, James L. Wallace Executive Director Click here to download the Double Barrel Dog Days Donation Form (print and mail in)
