News/Editorials and other tidbits from the Web.

- Check out NRA's National Firearms Museum online! For those of us that haven't had the opportunity to visit in person, lots of great stuff to check out online.
- WI Man sues over "open carry" arrest. "Cited for carrying a holstered gun on his property in 2008, Brad Krause
fought back and won acquittal in one of the first cases about so-called
open carry in Wisconsin."
Hudak for Congress Campaign receives endorsement from GOAL. "I
am honored and humbled that these proud defenders of liberty have
given me this very strong endorsement," said Bill Hudak. "We must all be
vigilant and steadfastly protective of our Constitutional rights as
American citizens, and the 2nd Amendment is one that is constantly
under fire from those who wish to deny the basic right of gun
ownership." NRA Statement on Elena Kagan's nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court. Ms.
Kagan presents a clear and present danger to the Right to Keep and
Bear Arms. Her political record reveals that she does not believe the
Second Amendment guarantees a fundamental right and, in her recent
testimony, she refused to acknowledge respect for the God-given right
of self-defense.
- The Matt Light Celebrity Shoot-Out
Get your shotguns ready - take aim to help us keep kids on target. This year marks the sixth annual Matt Light Celebrity Shoot-Out, our signature event that just keeps getting better!
- Despite strong opposition from Second Amendment advocates, Kagan confirmed as Supreme Court justice. Despite objections from the firearms industry, National Rifle
Association and many other Second Amendment advocates, Elena Kagan was
confirmed by the U.S. Senate yesterday with a 63-37 vote and will become
the country's 112th Supreme Court justice.
- Firearms Industry Responds to Anti-Hunting Attack on Traditional Ammunition. The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the trade association
for the firearms, ammunition, hunting and shooting sports industry, has
announced its opposition to a petition filed today with the
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) seeking to ban the use of
traditional ammunition, containing lead-core components, by America's
sportsmen and women.
- NSSF Provides Over $230,000 in Grants to Shooting Ranges. The National Shooting Sports Foundation has awarded grants totaling
$231,796 to nine shooting facilities through its Range Partnership Grant
Program.
Dem's "Lock N Load" to gain votes from "gun rights" groups With
the mid-terms looming large in a year where incumbents are expected
to take a beating at the polls many Democratic candidates are favoring
gun rights, aiming to win endorsements or positive ratings from pro-2nd
amendment groups.

Volunteers Needed for
the Topsfield Fair Each year, GOAL is fortunate enough to be provided a booth
at the Topsfield Fair. Our booth is
located in the Sportsman's Building, and is provided courtesy of the Essex
County League of Sportsmen.
Exposure at the Fair gives GOAL the opportunity to talk with
thousands of attendees. Some are
familiar with GOAL and our members. Others we talk with have no knowledge of firearms and their many
purposes.
With limited office staff, GOAL depends on volunteers to
help us at this Fair. This year the Fair will be held from October 1-11, open from
10am to 10pm. GOAL usually sets up
four-hour shifts for volunteers.
If you
can help us, please call 508.393.5333. ext.206.

We need help with Candidates!
|
Help us, help you, make great decisions on election day!
One of the fantastic after effects of Scott Brown being elected is a new resurgence of people that are willing to not only get involved by working for campaigns, but also to run for office.
There are more new candidates running for office this November within Massachusetts than we can recall seeing for a long time. In order to sort through them we are asking for some help. If you are a candidate for a county, state, or national office, or if you know or work for a candidate, please ask them to fill out one of our new candidate questionnaires.
This will give us a great read on how much a candidate knows, and cares about Second Amendment Issues. After completing we will grade the questionnaire and post that grade on our Candidate Ratings Pages. (See below) *Note: The U.S. Congress ratings are courtesy of the NRA. Also note that ALL of our current incumbents up for re-election have an "F" grade.
