Dem's "Lock N Load" to gain votes from "gun rights" groups With

amendment groups.

H. 4102 DEFEATED!
| End of Legislative Session Wrap Up
Governor's Lawful Citizen's Imprisonment Act Defeated
At midnight on Saturday, July 31,
2010 the Massachusetts Legislature ended formal sessions for the year.
With a few legislative items in play until the very end, GOAL was in
the State House until the last gavel was dropped at midnight. One of the greatest challenges in
the last days of the session was actually the casino bill. The fight
over casinos by the major political leaders in the state became an all
consuming subject. Towards the end, it was anyone's guess what might
become a bargaining chip for that bill. The Governor's Lawful Citizens
Imprisonment Act, H.4102, was certainly a bill that was in play. That
is why it was so important for GOAL to be there until it was all over.
We are pleased to announce that due
to the hard work of GOAL and our members, H.4102 never came out of the
House Ways and Means Committee for a vote. The lawful gun owners of
Massachusetts should be very proud of a job well done. When one
considers that this bill was a top priority of the Governor our members
should be celebrating a great victory in the defense of our civil
rights.
In the final months and weeks of the
session, the Governor used his access to the media and pressured
legislators in an attempt to pass his bill. GOAL members and staff
spent countless hours contacting legislators and the media outlets
providing them with an abundance of materials proving that further "gun
control" measures was plainly the wrong direction to take. In the end,
our hard work paid off.

John Kelly Memorial Shoot
| GOAL would
like to thanks the Harvard Sportsmen's Club, Metrowest Tactical, the
Harvard Action Shooters, and all the people that provided support and
labor for this wonderful match. A special thank you to John Catterall
for a job well done. This match honered one of the great ones and
raised money for the American Heart Association and Gun Owners' Action
League.
A note from the Match Director:
Thanks to everyone who came out
and supported the match. I am grateful to all of the people who
volunteered their time to put the stages together, staff them, and then
tear down at the end of a long day. Special thanks to Dave Bold for
doing the scoring, the stats people in our sports are the unsung heroes
who put a lot of time and effort into getting the results posted
promptly and accurately, the job was even harder with a
multi-discipline match like the JK. Thanks also to Jenn Rebello who was
our match photographer and who also designed the T-shirt along with her
daughter, Eleni.
I was in email contact with JK's sister, Anne, on
several occasions leading up to this match. Those of you who were at
the shooter's meeting could see how emotional it was for her and on
behalf of Anne and the Kelly family I want to pass along their thanks
for your support of this worthy cause. The turnout meant a lot to the
family and I was glad that they were able to come out and see the
match.
We are working on the final tally of the proceeds of
the match. The match fee and T-shirt money will be split 50/50 between
GOAL and the American Heart Association and all the raffle money will
be given to the family to help offset uninsured funeral costs. I'll get
those numbers out to you when they become finalized.
Regards,
John Catterall

We need help with Candidates!
|
Help us, help you, make great decisions on election day!
One of the fantastic after effects of Scott Brown being elected is a new resurgence of people that are willing to not only get involved by working for campaigns, but also to run for office.
There are more new candidates running for office this November within Massachusetts than we can recall seeing for a long time. In order to sort through them we are asking for some help. If you are a candidate for a county, state, or national office, or if you know or work for a candidate, please ask them to fill out one of our new candidate questionnaires.
This will give us a great read on how much a candidate knows, and cares about Second Amendment Issues. After completing we will grade the questionnaire and post that grade on our Candidate Ratings Pages. (See below) *Note: The U.S. Congress ratings are courtesy of the NRA. Also note that ALL of our current incumbents up for re-election have an "F" grade.
