HELP!! My dog is shedding uncontrollably!  What can I do?

-         Bathe your dog regularly.

Yes, this can help.  Try bathing in really warm water.  This "tricks" the fur to think it is warm and will begin to activate the natural shedding process.  Isn't it better for the fur to come off in the bath then around your home or loft?

-         Use a de-shedding brush regularly.

The "Furminator"  is great and gets rid of the undercoat.  This is what actually sheds.  Use this carefully and read the directions.

-          Get a De-Shedding Treatment from your Groomer*

Most groomers have a de-shed option on their menu.  Once your dog or cat has been professionally de-shed, keep up on the regular brushing and bathing.

-         Check their diet!

Yes, a pets diet can effect more than just their insides.  Often pets are allergic or not eating proper food for them.  This can lead to skin problems and even loss of hair.  Consult your local food specialty store for advice.
