Be like Anne Jackson and get ready for the mountain today! 

 

Before you know it the runs will be open and it will be time to hit the slopes.   After our first snows some of you have already climbed The Cone and swooshed through the powder.  To help you prepare for a awesome season make sure you do extra Bikram Yoga practice.  The strength, flexibility and balance  you gain will be truly amazing.  Not to mention the increased lung capacity that happens with the Bikram Yoga breathing exercises.  So it's simple, practice Bikram Yoga everyday, stop by Side Effects Board Shop  - say hi to Anne - and hit the slopes.  Hope to see all of you soon! 

 

 

Other News....

 

Student of the Month.  Be sure to read the story of how Mark Capell our November Student of the Month lost an incredible 44 pounds since early August.

 

Oregon Hatha Yoga Championships are taking place at Alberta Rose Theatre in Portland on Sunday, November 21st.  Yoga championships have a long tradition in the history and evolution of yoga.  Be sure to come and watch this amazing demonstration of the power and grace of hatha yoga. 

 

Thanksgiving Day.   Michael will teach the 9am class on Thanksgiving Day.  Be sure to get your turkey started and come into class.  With class you can have two pieces of pie - without class only one piece of pie!   Friday - the day after Thanksgiving we will have 9am, 11am and 4:30pm class.  The rest of the weekend is the same.

 

Christmas Holiday Party.  Be sure to mark Saturday, December 4th at 5pm for our annual potluck to kick off the busy holiday season. 

 

Strike a Pose! Calendar.  The calendars have arrived.  Be sure to pick your calendar up at the studio or Purchase Online.  This calendar is filled with amazing photos of our students as they practice their postures while out and about.  Buy one for yourself and more as gifts to your friends and family.

Mark Capell

Two words, Weight Loss.  Mark is a new student to Bikram Yoga.  He started just three short months ago.  Two of his personal friends, Rachel and Michael Scannel encouraged him to come for a long time.  Finally he did.  In just this short period of time Mark has lost an incredible 44 pounds.  I asked him how he did it.  He simply said he comes to Bikram Yoga as much as possible and he eats less food.  Huh, just what the experts say - exercise more, eat less.  The added advantage to Bikram Yoga is the heat and the application of the hatha yoga postures.  This creates a therapeutic benefit that increases metabolism and brings the internal organs back into their natural order.   Mark says he would like to lose 20 more pounds.  No doubt he will do that.

Mark has found that Bikram Yoga is good physical therapy.  He has three fused discs in his cervical spine and two fused discs in his lower spine.   When he first started he thought that there were some poses that he would never be able to do.  Now he says he can do so much more.  He has a lot more energy and is looking forward to skiing with more balance, energy and muscle tone.  Mark says the most difficult experience in yoga class is when his alarm goes off at 5:30am and then comes to the 6:15am class.  That is dedication to his personal health and well being.

Mark is a well known figure in Bend.  He is the owner of CMIT Solutions, which is a computer consulting and repair business.   He is also a sitting member of the Bend City Council.   I can only imagine what his friends and colleagues are saying about the incredible changes they are seeing.  And his wife Jeanni,  who also recently started Bikram Yoga,  must be delighted.  With her help Mark will have to buy a whole new wardrobe. 

When you see Mark about town or in the early morning class, be sure to congratulate him for his new vigor and on being Student of the Month!

Intention Experiment

The Intention Experiment
 

We I first read this book I was totally fascinated.  I could barely put it down.  Especially the part on how plants seem to communicate with each other.  Even if your plants are in different rooms of your house they seem to "talk" and be in sync.

 

The Intention Experiment rests on the idea that thought effects physical reality.  On one level that seems so funny - on another level - how could it be any other way?  We all pick up on the energy of each other.

 

I don't want to divulge to much about this book.  I am suggesting though that you pick the book up and read about the science and experiments on how our individual and collective thoughts influence our world.
