Wind Removing Pose

After Savasana Wind Removing Pose is the first floor posture. This posture has many benefits. In class you often hear how it affects the ascending, descending and transverse colon. How it helps to balance the HCL (hydrochloric acid) in your system. As you pull your knee in, first right, then left it also effects the circulatory system in your legs. Helping to flush and clean the arteries. It affects the strength of the fingers, hands, wrist and arms. It helps to open your hips. This posture is a classic posture used both within yoga and within physical therapy to help stretch and open your lower back. Some people do this posture naturally to help sooth back pain. Just like nature intended.

Student of the Month
Dr. Marlene Covey
This month's student of the month is Dr. Marlene Covey. Dr. Covey is an Obstetrician/Gynecologist here in Bend. This month is her one year anniversary of practicing Bikram Yoga. Since her first class she has been practicing 3-4 times a week. At one time she even did a 62 day yoga challenge. Wow! In the last year she has noticed that her knees no longer hurt and her shoulders have become more flexible. Stiffness in her neck has been reduced. And the pain in her feet caused by plantar fasciitis has been greatly diminished. During her 62 day challenge she learned that while her body was hurting more that ever "I knew it was a process of repair I was going through. I had to just keep on pushing." Pain Kills The Pain! Right Marlene? Practicing Bikram Yoga has brought more attention to her posture and some awkward habits she developed in her stance that have been detrimental. Not to mention the awareness it has brought to devoting more time to her health and stress reduction. Of course, Marlene's favorite posture is Standing Head to Knee because of the measurable personal progress she has made and she enjoys the challenge. She has seen not only a change in the posture but also notices the healing effect it has had on her sore feet that feel better after practicing balancing on one leg and developing new muscles and a strong foundation. More Classes, More Choices
By overwhelming request we will be expanding our early morning classes. Beginning Monday, October 13th we will have a 6:15am Class Monday - Friday. This means no more 6:30am Tuesday/Thursday. Saturday at 7:00am will remain. So get ready to come and start your day with an early Bikram Yoga class.
