| Quote of the Month |
| "Every day I live I am more convinced that the waste of life lies in the love we have not given, the powers we have not used, the selfish prudence that will risk nothing and which, shirking pain, misses happiness as well."

Posture of the Month |

Savasana
It's the end of the standing series and now you can say, "Ahh... Savasana." For now, just a couple of thoughts. During the standing series we are opening our muscles, ligaments and skeletal system. Now savasana gives us a chance to relax all the muscles that we have been stretching and moving. This will get us ready to move deeper into the internal organs during the floor postures. There is much much more that can and will be said about savasana. We will go further in depth at the end of the floor series.

Student of the Month
Gary Severson
Each of us practices yoga for different reasons. You may have started due to an injury or health condition, maybe to reduce stress or maybe for the sheer physical challenge and conditioning. There could be a whole host of reasons to do a yoga practice.
In the case of Gary he started Bikram Yoga to enhance his daily meditation practice. He states that Bikram Yoga gives him more body awareness and allows him to be more still while meditating.
Gary has been practicing Bikram Yoga for just about 100 days now. He initially went 81 days in a row. How's that for commitment? He is now down to only five times a week. But he says come this fall he may start another challenge.
Not many students state that Camel Pose is their favorite posture. Gary does! He likes it because of how relaxed he feels. Perhaps we need to start pushing him harder. Standing Head to Knee is one of his least favorite postures. The nemesis for so many of us. Gary finds the breathing to be a challenge in the posture. He used to always be in the back of the room. Now Gary finds himself in the front row close to the mirror. Though he says that he is sliding a bit on the new carpet. As Gary continues to strengthen his Triangle and other postures - the sliding will go away.
When you see Gary at the studio be sure to say hi and congratulate him for being Student of the Month!
