A special thank you to the dozens of volunteers, team leaders, interpreters, sponsors, hosts, new friends, new faces and the outpouring of support.

Thank you, Sprint Relay, for a fantastic screening this past week at the Sprint Campus in Kansas City. Your support and innovation continues to inspire. I was impressed with your new 4G Evo phone that has TWO cameras!

See What I'm Saying

So many people to spotlight, but want to send a special thanks to Lisa Bolding of Sign Language Specialists in Missouri who came to our screening in Kansas City this week after following the film for almost 3 years. She showed up early to volunteer at our merchandise table, jumped in to help interpret in the lobby after the screening and gave me, Rebecca Cook and Ronda Rankin (who came in from Nebraska!) rides back to the hotel. Thank you, Lisa!!

FAN MAIL AND COMMENTS - this month's selection

This is one of the emails I received this month that touched my heart. Shortened for space and reprinted with permission.

My family and I including my son Joseph whom is deaf went Saturday and saw the documentary!  This was the best documentary I have ever seen.  This opened my eyes to so many deaf frustrations my son has and is going through.  He and I have some of the similarities as Robert did growing up and becoming an adult....    I have been guilty of saying because he was deaf that there were some jobs he could just not do and that was so WRONG of me!

Since we saw this documentary on Saturday we have changed our ways some-what and are signing ALL THE TIME to improve our signing skills.

I realized my busy busy life style to survive has put a hardship on our signing skills and that will not EVER happen again!!   This has already put a big smile on my son's face.  I apologized with big crocodile tears because he is very important to me and I love him with all my heart and I will do everything to improve my signing skills and to continue to teach my 10 yr old to improve his skills too so we can understand everything there is about Joseph and his feelings, etc...!!  I will be having conversations with my Aunts, Uncles and cousins and ask if they think Joseph is important enough for them to learn sign language so that we can communicate with Joseph and to make him feel like he does belong here like the rest of them! And not feel like a loner or like he does not belong!

Thank you so very much for all that you do to spread the word regarding the Deaf Culture and the Deaf Community.  Anything I can do to get involved with you and your program please do not hesitate to call or email me.  Again this was a wonderful documentation and something I will always carry within me!!!

Sincerely,
Sylvia L. Martin
