While we are waiting to hear back from more than a dozen film festivals around the world for our world premiere status, I wanted share a special event with you.
On June 5, 2008, the rock band Powder hosted the Vizual fundraiser for the film. The Cirque du Soleil themed event raised enough funds for us to finish the film over the summer. Here is a little video of our evening:

Once we get into a festival, we are going to need immediate funding to hire a publicist and pay for marketing materials and interpreters to attend the events with us. If everyone receiving this newsletter sends us at least $25, we will reach our goal.
$25 - will help pay for postcards, flyers and posters

$50 - will help pay for interpreters for Q&A sessions and panels

$100 - will help pay for airfares to festivals

$500 - will help pay for deaf entertainers to attend events

$1,000 - will help pay for advertising and publicist

Other: Please feel free to donate through our website and enter your own amount. Click on the button on the left column under the poster.

SEE
WHAT I'M SAYING: THE DEAF ENTERTAINERS DOCUMENTARY is a feature film
directed and
produced by Hilari Scarl. The film follows four deaf entertainers: CJ
Jones,
a comic famous around the world but unknown to mainstream audiences;
Bob Hiltermann, a drummer in Beethoven's Nightmare, the world's only
deaf rock band; Robert DeMayo, a brilliant actor who teaches at
Juilliard while being homeless; and TL Forsberg, a hard of hearing
singer caught between the deaf world and the hearing world as she
produces her first CD "Not Deaf Enough." There are dozens of
appearances by other entertainers in the film including Evelyn Glennie,
Linda Bove, Shoshannah Stern, Tyrone Giordano, Deanne Bray, Troy Kotsur, Anthony Natale, Max Fomitchev, Howie Seago and others.
After 18 months of production, the
film was completed in August 2008 and has been submitted to film
festivals all over the world. We hope to announce our 2009 world
premiere very soon.
