Greetings!
Pam Globe Head Shot

We all know that travel is predictably unpredictable and with the latest from Iceland's volcano causing thousands of flights across Europe to be canceled, this statement is never more true.

In this issue of our newsletter, we give you the latest update on the volcano, the Jetport's new construction, and a special $39 per traveler rate for TripIt Pro that helps you organize your travel plans and receive up-to-the minute flight alerts.

As advocates for our travelers, we also give you the latest update on the Passengers' Bill of Rights with new tarmac rules, new service from Portland to Toronto and special savings to Barbados for anyone who wants to getaway to the islands.

And if your company is looking at ways to manage travel costs across the board, join us for the second in a series of travel seminars on cost savings with Certify which will be held this Wednesday, May 19th.

We appreciate your business and the opportunity to work with you and your travelers.

Enjoy!

Sincerely,
Pam Signature Small

Volcanic ash continues to disrupt European air travel

Volcanic ash affects 1,000 flights in EuropeVolcanic ash continues to affect thousands of flights in Europe.  Flight restrictions affecting London's two major international airports - Heathrow and Gatwick - were lifted today after a no-fly zone had been imposed due to dense volcanic ash drifting down from Iceland.  Airports in Amsterdam, Northern Ireland and some Scottish islands continue to face restrictions.  Click here for eturbonews latest article. (Image via Reuters/David Moir)

Portland Jetport begins $75 million terminal expansion project

Airplane at GateThe Jetpoort has begun this new project and when completed, the 137,000-square-foot expansion will double the size of the airport's terminal and include three new gates, eight passenger-screening lanes, a new baggage-handling system and a pedestrian bridge over the roadway.

While this construction is underway combined with the arrival of the busy summer travel season, we would suggest using online check-in 24hrs prior and paying for any checked luggage on-line in advance to save time.  Also, we recommend that travelers arrive at least one and a half to two hours prior to their departure especially for early morning flights during the week.

Short-term parking is for picking up or dropping off passengers and is in the first level of the parking garage.  You cannot leave your car there overnight and there are 239 spaces available.

Long-term surface parking is closed and now long-term is on the second through fifth floors of the parking garage.  There are 2100 spaces and all long-term parking is now $12 per day.  Satellite parking is open only for emergencies.

If you are flying out of the Jetport and need to park, please drive through the Jetport like you are exiting and the entrance to Long-term parking is opposite the terminal.
