SuitcaseBaggage:
Most airlines have made changes to their baggage policies. It is important for you to know these policies before you take your trip.  Changes include charging for the 1st or 2nd bag and changes with carry-on size restrictions.  Hurley Travel Experts has developed an easy to read chart that is located on our website.

Security procedures with TSA:
The Transportation Security Administration has specific requirements on their security procedures for check-in, checked luggage and carry-on restrictions.

Increased change penalties for airline tickets:
Tickets and itinIn an effort to offset the rising cost of fuel, the airlines have increased many of their change penalties for changing your original flight. These costs have increased  approximately $75 to $250 depending on the airline and destination.  Your travel consultant will advise you of the applicable charge when you need to make changes to your ticket(s).

Changes to stand-by airline policies:
If you need to change your non-refundable/penalty ticket to another flight the same day, airlines are making changes to their fee structures and are actually becoming more lenient.  Fees and rules change with each airline but typically you can stand-by for a $50 fee if your new flight leaves three hours prior to the original flight.  Continental just revised their policy to 24 hours prior to the original fight.  Your dedicated travel consultant can advise you of the rules for your particular airline.

Canceling your non-refundable ticket & no shows:
Airplane at GateMost airlines will allow you to use your non-refundable ticket towards the purchase of a ticket within one year with a change penalty.  However, please be advised these tickets usually need to be cancelled before the original flight departs to remain active.

An exception is US Airways which requires your reservation to be cancelled by 12 midnight the day before the original flight departs.  If you fail to cancel, your ticket will become null and void.

If you do not take your return flight, you also need to cancel that flight before it departs.  Some airlines are billing a service fee for uncancelled flights after you have completed your journey.

Early departure on hotel stays:
Hotels are increasing the practice of charging early check out fees of approximately $25-50 on stays longer than one night if you depart earlier than your original departure date.

Learn about "checkpoint-friendly" laptop cases...

TSA Laptop CasesTo help streamline the security process and better protect laptops TSA has recently encouraged manufacturers to design bags that will produce a clear and unobstructed image of the laptop when undergoing X-ray screening. A design that meets this objective will enable TSA to allow laptops to remain in bags for screening instead of having to remove them at airport checkpoints.

Read On  to find out more about the TSA and laptops.  We have provided a few links to bags that meet these requirements.
