Delta SkyMiles & Northwest WorldPerks link up:
SkyMiles® and Northwest WorldPerks® members now have the ability to link frequent flyer accounts and transfer miles between both accounts at no charge.
Members who link their accounts before April 15, 2009, will earn 500 bonus miles. They can visit delta.com or nwa.com, link their accounts and transfer any amount of miles into either account on an unlimited basis. Both accounts will remain open and functioning until late 2009 when Delta plans to merge the two programs to deliver one loyalty program for members in 2010.
"The mileage-transfer feature enables our frequent flyer members to immediately enjoy both SkyMiles and WorldPerks redemption opportunities, including Award Tickets, upgrades, merchandise and experiences. We encourage them to link their accounts today," said Jeff Robertson, Delta's vice president of Loyalty Programs. Greetings!
Travel smart, not less... It's no secret that corporations have cut way back on travel and that we are all looking forward to the economy bouncing back. When times are tough (and in the travel industry we have seen our share of tough times), I always try and find the silver lining.
The silver lining for us is that customer and employee satisfaction and retention is high, and we are able to offer creative ways to increase sales and reduce costs. We have also been certified as a Minority and Woman Owned Business by the state, which will give us participation in MaineDOT contracts. In this newsletter, we have outlined various ways to save money and streamline your travel program. We understand that the trip starts the moment your travelers leave their home and doesn't really end until their expense report is approved. So in addition to booking flights, accommodations and more, we have negotiated discounts for airport parking nationwide with Park & Fly.
We have also aligned ourselves with two top expense-reporting companies, Certify and Concur. These tools integrate with our new corporate on-line booking engines, Cliqbook and nuTravel. We will feature Cliqbook and Concur in our next newsletter. We look forward to helping you manage your travel costs. Please contact us to discuss some of these new initiatives. History has shown time and time again that companies, who plan for future growth by maintaining customer loyalty, thrive even in an economic turndown.
In times like these we need to be positive, creative, efficient and most importantly customer facing. We stand committed to our customers by offering them high service at the lowest cost. Sincerely, Pam Hurley Moser - hurley@travelexperts.com

| Expense Report Management |
|
It's as easy as snapping a photo
How much time do you or your travelers spend gathering receipts, sorting them by travel date, travel category, etc. and then filling out a manual or Excel form and mailing these to your accounting department? A recent study by the Aberdeen Group called "Expense Management Automation" surveyed 377 companies. They found that 73% of employers do not use a fully integrated company wide expense management solution.
Hurley Travel Experts has teamed up with Certify to offer the leading self-service, online expense management solution. This product offers internal cost savings in excess of $16 per expense report. So a company with 100 employees producing 1,500 expense reports could save $24,000 annually! Please contact Denise Meiler at 207.523.3511 to set up your personalized online demonstration and a 30-day free trial. |

| International Service Returns to Jetport |
|
Starlink connects Portland to Nova Scotia
The Jetport is truly international again with its twice-daily flights from Portland to Nova Scotia. Starlink is now flying an 18-passenger Jetstream 31 turboprop from Yarmouth to Halifax and back, and then on to Portland, in morning and afternoon runs on weekdays. Prices are $250 for a one-way trip from Halifax to Portland and $150 from Yarmouth to Portland. The flight from Halifax to Yarmouth is about 40 minutes, and the trip from Yarmouth to Portland is less than an hour. Passengers do not use the regular terminal instead they enter Portland's airport through the existing U.S. Customs facility, which is also used by private aircraft called "Northeast Airmotive", and then are bused to the main terminal. In the summer, the Cat, a high-speed ferry operated by Bay Ferries Ltd., links Portland to Yarmouth and there have been some discussions of combining the two for packages. The Cat trip takes more than five hours.
