Kids: Writing to Camp
Do you spend your summer stressed about writing every day to your child at sleep away camp?
I am often asked "do you write to your kids every day?" My answer is "absolutely not" and here's why:
1. I do not want to feel burdened to write to my kids. Writing 2 or 3 times a week gives me more to say and I can write from a place of love, not obligation.
2. I like to promise less and deliver more. If they expect a letter every day and I miss a day, they will be disappointed. If I promise twice a week and they get a third letter, it's a bonus.
Email versus handwritten notes? I do a combination. While email is easier, I still think there is something special about opening an envelope with a handwritten letter.

Time: Quiet Hours
Do you crave uninterrupted work time?
Technology makes it very easy to get distracted. When you need to focus, try establishing Quiet Hours.
The Quiet Hours application allows you to shut down messaging, email, and other applications that grab your time.
While this helps to control the digital distractions, it doesn't stop people from showing up in your office. To deter human interruptions, try posting notification of Quiet Hours on the entrance to your workspace. |

Home & Office: Jump Out of The Inbox
Email is not always the best way to communicate. Some messages are best conveyed by phone or in person.
According to The American Psychological Association, about 25 percent of emailers are not effectively conveying their tone when they send a note electronically.
Some things are best said and not written. Be mindful of when it is better to simply pick up the phone and have a conversation with someone; even when it seems easier to send an email.
