Tip of the Month:

"There's nothing wrong with having a plan.

Plans are great.

But missions are better.

Missions survive when plans fail, and plans almost always fail."

Seth Godin

Kids:  After School Activities

1. Why do you enroll your child in activities.  Is it: to supplement school hours? to develop skills?  for social reasons?  to gain knowledge about religion?  to learn an instrument?  to develop a specific talent?

2. Create parameters:  number of days, number of activities, categories of activities (sports, music, religion, performing arts, etc.)

3.  Think about what works best for you.  Consider days of the week, potential carpools, cost, quality, and location.

4.  Offer your child choices.  If, for example, you view music as mandatory, you might say "In our family, everyone takes an instrument - would you prefer  violin, guitar or piano?"

Time:  Use Your Phone To Scan
ebayEver need to copy info down quickly but don't have a copy machine nearby?

CamScanner is a great free application that is available for both the Android and iPhone.  It will scan and image and save it as a pdf file

Once you have the scanned image you can forward it via email or upload it to Google Docs or Dropbox.
Home & Office:  When not to Send
Draft

Do you sometimes write emails that you later regret sending?

It is a good practice to avoid writing (and especially sending) emails when you are angry, upset, tired, or under the influence.

If you are unsure, you are best off creating a draft and saving it for the next day to look at with fresh eyes and then send.

Emails sent through work are usually saved on a server.  It is estimated that one third of large companies in the US actively monitor their employees' email.  Better safe than sorry!
