Kids: Filling Out Forms
If you have more than one child, filling out forms can be incredibly time consuming.
Here is a tip to reduce writer's cramp:
When you receive the forms, take one copy and fill in all of the information that is the same for all of your children (parent info, address, etc.)
Then make copies of this form so that you only need to write out the information that is child-specific.
If a form is used year after year, you may want to make a copy of the basic information for your files for next year! |

Time: I Just Can't Wait
Did you know that there are studies that explain why we hate to wait?
The Psychology of Waiting Lines, by David Maister, provides the following insights into why the wait sometimes feels longer:
1. Having no distractions (this is why hotels put mirrors near the elevator.)
2. Anxiety ("I picked the wrong line in the supermarket")
3. Uncertainty about how long the wait will be ("The Doctor will see you soon" vs. "The wait will be another 10 minutes.")
4. Waiting alone, not in a group. Engaging with others makes the time pass more quickly.
When forced to wait, try staying calm by keeping yourself distracted, engaged and armed with as much information as possible. As for the supermarket, I have resigned myself to the fact that I usually pick the wrong line. |

Home & Office: In Case of Evacuation
The weather has been extreme and unpredictable. Extended power outages have forced many to evacuate their homes.
Here are a few things you can do to reduce your stress in an emergency situation.
1. Copy and store important documents off-site. 2. Have non-perishable foods on hand. 3. Keep flashlights, batteries and water handy. 4. Put electronic files on a USB drive. Store off-site.
5. Scan photos, copy to a USB drive. Store off-site.
6. Use "cloud" storage services to preserve and have access to documents from anywhere. Having everything in order can seem like an overwhelming task. Try tackling just one thing at a time.
