By now you probably have food, water, flashlights and a tank full of gas.  

Here are 3 additional precautions to take before the storm hits:

 1. Computers - back up your computer, remove external hard drives and store them in a water-tight container.  Shut down computers to avoid any damage from a power surge.

2. Papers - Collect important documents (insurance policies, passports, pet information, etc.)  Put them in a water-tight container that you can grab or keep it in your car.

3. Water - While you still have water, fill all water bottles in the house.  Consider filling a tub or large bin to have water for flushing toilets or bathing should it be days before water is restored.

Any other precious small items that might be water-damaged should be put into plastic containers or bags.
