Spring is just around the corner.  As we start to shed the heavy sweaters and winter coats, wouldn't it be nice to also shed some of our excess stuff; especially our friend Justin Case?

Sincerely,
Sharon F. Danzger

Tip of the Month:
The easiest way to reduce clutter in your home is to not let it in.

Just because something is free, it does not mean you have to take it!

Kids:  Credit Cards
Credit CardsLooking for a way to make teens more responsible with money?

Thanks to Debra Feldman for this tip:

Have teens use a debit card that draws from funds in a checking account.  You can electronically transfer allowance into the account or have your child fund the account.

At 18, they can have their own credit card which is good for emergencies and times when a debit card cannot be used.  A credit card at this age teaches them about using credit while (hopefully) incurring only minor expenses.

Credit cards are an opportunity for your child to learn the importance of paying the entire charge and avoiding interest.  They also learn to live with the consequences of impulse purchases.

Time:  29 Hours a Week
Hours The Workplace Training Center claims that as many as 29 hours in a 40 hour work week are spent on unimportant tasks.

Managers
spend as much as 12 hours a week on administrative tasks.  Can these items be eliminated or delegated?

Workers admit to wasting about 10 hours a week on personal Internet use.  Consider keeping work and play totally separate.  Finish your work, leave on time and go home!

E-Mail that is not relevant takes up about 4 hours a week.  Stop it at its source by unsubscribing from unwanted e-mails.

Papers that are not filed properly consume another 3 hours of searching each week.  Devise a better system and stick with it!

We all wish we had more time.  If any of the above time-wasters apply to you, what changes can you make to get some time back?
Home & Office:  Justin Case
Justin CaseDo you hold onto things, Justin Case?

Justin Case is like a bad house guest that won't leave.  We allow him to overstay his welcome out of fear of what might happen.  We need to believe that we can handle what life has in store without the time, space and effort Justin Case requires of us.

Get rid of Justin Case and all of the items he has stored in your home.  When Justin Case is gone, you will be relieved of the burden he brought with him!
