Kids: Trophies
Are your kids' shelves overflowing with trophies and awards?
In an effort to make everyone feel like a 'winner,' many towns give kids trophies for participating in activities.
An easy way to reduce the abundance is to have your child select the trophies that have actually been earned. The rest can be donated or thrown away.
Trophies represent an honor for a job well done. If there was no effort, the reward is meaningless. Your child knows the difference.

Time: Chronic Lateness
A few more thoughts on a topic covered in our June, 2009 newsletter.
In her book, SHED Your Stuff, Change Your Life, Julie Morgenstern suggests taking the following steps to battle chronic lateness:
1. Record how much time things really take to do. 2. See how being late affects others. 3. Plan to always arrive early (bring reading.) 4. Avoid the urge to do 'just one more thing.'
Morgenstern's book is a great read. In addition to the organizing tips, it's a self-help book that gives great pointers on how to best live your life.
