Miss Karen's Musing:
Ah! Fall!

Ah, fall!

The birds are singing and the pucks are flying and shut outs are in the air.

Yes you read that right. Stephen's team had its first game against their arch rivals the Santa Clara Blackhawks and they stone them in a 2 - 0 victory.

Man haven't seen one of those in forever! It's going to be a great year!

In other news - I am pulling my home study course.

Yes, you read that right too!  After all of that hard work and mayhem getting it ready to release, I am NOT GOING TO.  It's not because I don't love and appreciate you. I have discovered a better way to get the information in your hands for less money AND in a way that serves you better.  Stay tuned for a special announcement about that.

And finally - FINALLY I actually visited my sister in the mountains. We had a great time yaking it up and Stephen enjoyed showing off his guitar skills to his bass playing uncle.  What fun.

Well on to your actual content!

Til next time,

Karen "back to school at last" Frank!
Client Success Story -
They "Get" Who I Am and What I Do!

"Thank you more than I can say for the laser niche coaching.  I was a tech-writer for years and you provided Laser Word-Smithing like I've never even seen before (My husband and I) both are fairly successful writers and were completely blown away with your amazing ability in this specific arena. (Our session) was truly priceless.

What a huge response I received to it this weekend at the 2nd weekend for Double Your Practice.  And what an amazing feeling to have a client-group and service target I can relax into completely! And to stand up in the group, state my thing and have people simply go, "Oh yeah.  We can see that.  We get that's who you are and what you do." ...Thanks for being part of the process that has finally allowed me to BE me and be open to MY people coming my way!

Thank you again for your amazing gifts and support!"

If You're Not Doing This You Are Missing The Boat
by Karen Frank

I am revisiting this concept because I've noticed something.  People are asking me to write old fashioned web pages and there is a new generation of promotion that has taken hold.

The fact of the matter is if you are not using video to promote your business you're behind current trends and if you don't fix it soon, the boat will be leaving without you being on it.

These days, as you're searching for information on the internet, you are very likely to find video.  A videos of you will increase the likelihood that website visitors will stay longer and buy more.

When you're surfing the web, do you find yourself clicking on the video, expecting to be treated to something interesting and fun? A survey of one site indicated that 81% of all the visitors stopped to play the video.

What if your website had a video?  What if your video was a carefully scripted, compelling piece introducing them to you, your company and your products and services?  What if it was written in a fun, entertaining way that proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that you were the perfect company with which to do business? Do you believe that people clicking in would be more likely to buy from you than if your site simply had text?

And video is  no longer a giant expensive deal.  With the advent of the flip video, you can shoot, plug and play all in an afternoon.

Still not convinced? Think about it this way:  You have a beautiful storefront that generates a lot of traffic.  Lots of people stop by to check you out.  Will you lead all of your prospects to a well lit table piled with sales material and direct them to read about your products and services?

Of course not!  You are going to speak with each guest individually because you know that most successful sales transactions involve personal relationships. Relationships which allow you to speak directly to the client educating them as to WHY your product or service is different and better than the rest. With video you can do that on your website too.

Perhaps you have a product that is installed in the home.  A video describing your products and the installation process can be used as a sales tool both by your in-home demonstrators and on the internet.

A value added piece, like a check list for choosing the right contractor, is an additional benefit for homeowners. It can establish you as the authority in sales and installation in your field.  By showing that your company is safe, helpful and trustworthy, you can place yourself at the top of your client's short list of possible vendors.

A well crafted video can show YOU speaking about a certain product or service, how it works and how it can make your visitor's life easier.  You will then be transforming the feel of your website into the feel of your retail store (real or virtual). Each click becomes a personal visit to the best provider of your products and services - you.

Video can work for any service and industry. From pet and home care to burglar alarms or window film, people are more likely to purchase products or services if they can tell that the website they're viewing has real people behind the pages.

Coming soon!  Do you have have an informational product to promote? Or maybe you just have more great ideas than you have money to promote them.

Stay tuned! I am creating something that solves a problem I wish was solved for me - and I promise it will make you money and  you are going to love it!

Networking Tip of the Month
Checking In and Re-connecting - It's Part of Networking Too!

Let's face it it's a "set it and forget it" world.

We're all caught up in day to day 'stuff' and sometimes finding a connection to someone is like checking off an item from your "to do" list.

Ah, I've been looking for a contractor as a strategic ally - check!  I've made one phone call - check! We had coffee - check!

And then silence.

Or maybe the only time you check in with someone is when you have a connection for them.

Aha! I found someone that needs Sally's services! And then you contact Sally only to find out that she doesn't actually do the thing your friend needs. She used to - but not anymore.

It's kind of weird, actually.

Maybe you've had  the experience of running into someone who promised to be a great strategic alliance for you - except you had coffee with them once and now they are too busy to reconnect?

Or maybe you're guilty of this. You are so crazy busy being busy in your 'busyness' that you come up for air on occasion and when you do you are so exhausted that what you really need is a break - not more to do.

Of course if that's you, you may want to consider re-working your business model, but that's a different conversation.

But back to your long lost business associates at the mixer or in line at the grocery store.

It's like they are running their business using a mission statement that includes the phrase "absence makes the heart grow fonder."

Well it doesn't.

Especially in business.

This week's homework assignment (so that you're not the one guilty of a disappearing act) is to pick up the phone and call at least 3 people who you intended to do business with and have not heard from in at least 3 months.

Have a nice conversation or take them out for lunch or coffee and find out what's new in their business.

Things change quickly in successful businesses these days. Who knows - you may discover a new way to trade business with one another that wasn't possible 3 months ago.
