New Contest for August

| On thing I have heard over and over and _____ again is that you are constantly running into people who are "networking challenged".
"If only", you've said, "we could all come to your workshop together we would all have the same skill level and we could make more money faster and no one would have to be embarrassed or singled out".
Great idea! This matches my goal for our company during August beautifully (The goal is no fewer than 50 people in each workshop). So, I've decided to make it easy for you to invite your group.
For every group that has 50% of its population in attendance at any workshop, your group will receive a copy of my CD and workbook set for your library PLUS every member who attends will receive a copy of my new electronic book -Network Your WayTo Success - AT NO COST.
A group could be your networking club/chapter, your "downline" (if you're in direct sales), your clients - whatever - you define what a group is, I'll reward you on the honor system. So there you have it.
If you want to invite your group, I have an email you can send to let them know about the workshop and that you're giving them a $79 workshop PLUS a book just for showing up - PLUS your group gets a prize!
Please don't send unsolicited email to people. Only forward the email to people who have asked you to do that. What that means is, if they are someone who you would have no problem having a conversation with about building their business, or they are on your "opted in" mailing list that would be OK. Just don't send something to every person whose email address you've collected over the past 5 years! (That could get us both in trouble!!)

Miss Karen's Monthly Musing - A Canadian Surprise! |
We had a fabulous trip to Seattle. We dined at the Space Needle and took a train from Vancouver to Whistler. It was every bit as fun as we expected it to be. We did have a very UNexpected thing happen during the hockey tournament!
The players marched into the rink hopeful that they perhaps might win, but the motto was simply "do our best". Parents gathered in the lobby of the rink for what we thought would be the first of many hockey spankings. As the game progressed, the team was down 1-3, but then a very odd thing happened. The boys suddenly began to play - and play well as a team. As they began to score, the boys realized that they could beat this team. When the game was over the team happily piled on the goalie (my son) because they had won it - 5 - 3!
And that set the tone. The second game was lost, but only by one point. At the end of the last round robin game, they found themselves in second place battling for a gold medal - who knew??
One of the hardest moments I've had in recent years was leaving Whistler BEFORE the gold medal game, because I had a plane to catch. I was a speaker in San Jose the next day. I didn't expect them to go to ANY medal round, much less the gold! I am sure the people on the bus to Vancouver were wondering why a grown woman was in tears all the way to the airport - sigh - lessoned learned. Never again will I sacrifice so much for a speaking engagement.
I wouldn't know until after my plane landed many hours later that they had won. After nearly all the defense had been injured (including my son, the goalie) they won - in sudden-death overtime 2-1. Holy Cow!
The Women's Weekend, while a fabulous experience, was a bit of a let down after all of that (as you might completely understand), but it is wonderful to have completed my training. I spent the weekend with some amazing women, some of whom will be clients and (even better) some who will be friends.
What's next? In August, I'll be speaking at both the Brentwood and Hispanic Chambers of Commerce (I've put those on the calendar so you can join us if you'ld like). And they'll be more workshops. My son begins middle school and, oh yes, they'll be more hockey. |

Networking
Tip of the Month

| Many people will not do business with you until they get to know you. Never try to "close a deal" at a networking event.
A better strategy is to ask for a meeting at a later, mutually convenient time and location. Be sure to ask lots of questions before you offer any of your products or services.
Remember - you don't know how you can help them until you know what they need.
