Cool jazz kicks off MusicFest Vancouver Reprise on Sunday September 23 at 3pm. Cory Weeds has called on three of the city's most in demand jazz colleagues to join him on stage at the Cathedral. Joining sax player Cory Weeds are pianist Miles Black, Rene Worst on bass, and Jesse Cahill on drums, all of whom have performed for us at Cory Weeds' Cellar Jazz Club. Vocalist Jennifer Scott is on the road in the US on the same weekend but is so passionate about MusicFest Vancouver that she has arranged an early flight to be back in time to sing a ballad or two!

Lori Pappajohn to Perform With Members of Her Winter Harp Ensemble

Lori was quick to respond to our invitation to join MusicFest Vancouver Reprise, and we were delighted when she also extended that invitation to her colleagues in her Winter Harp ensemble. We're pleased to welcome  Roger Helfrick (harp & voice), Jeff Pelletier (flute), Joaquin Ayala (medieval instruments), and Bruce Henczel (percussion) to the roster. Their Celtic-infused contribution will reach back to the medieval minstrels and bards of yore in an evocative and beautiful set.

Joining in with more music of the Sceptered Isle and beyond will be members of Elektra Women's Choir, led by Artistic Director Morna Edmundson and featuring pianist Stephen Smith. Elektra is known for its brilliant singing, ravishingly beautiful tone, captivating stage presence, and is recognized as a leader in the international women's choral movement. The choir's contribution includes works by The Wailin' Jennys, Eleanor Daley, György Orbán, Bramwell Tovey, and Stephen Smith. Elektra's version of The Parting Glass will move you beyond words!
