Many of you have been introduced to Aristides Pimentel (the pastor at our church in Hato del Yaque, which was recently inaugurated).  Pastor Aristides is an amazing man and has three amazing sons.  In a country where many families do not stay together and divorce is rapid, the Pimentel family has managed to stay together and strong.

Adams, Aristides oldest son (born in 1980), has always been by his father's side.  He drove a school bus for children of a private school, is enrolled in college classes to become an engineer, and can be found helping at his father's church.

However, on August 22, 2006 all of that changed.

Adams was leaving church service one evening on a motorcycle with a friend riding on the back. A couple of thieves on another motorcycle rammed Adams and his friend in order to steal their bag. The impact forced Adams and his friend into oncoming traffic and they were hit by a car.

Adams' passenger received a broken hand, but overall suffered minimal injuries; while Adams endured the brunt of the crash. His leg was run over by the car's tire and was shattered. The accident was so horrific that part of Adam's tibia bone actually left his leg leaving a large gap.

Two years later, and after several surgeries...there was no improvement. In fact, the injury had worsened (becoming very infected) and now threatened Adams' life.

In May of 2008, G.O. Ministries received word of Adams' worsening condition and immediate stepped into to help.  By the grace of God, we were able to locate one of the world's top orthopedic surgeons...who happened to be stationed in Louisville, KY (just down the road from the G.O. international headquarters).

On Monday, June 21, 2008, an emergency visa was approved for Adams to fly to Louisville, KY for immediate surgery.  When Adams was asked if he was nervous about his trip, he replied "really, I am not nervous, just thankful and a little excited too."

Adams completed the first of three surgeries on Thursday, July 3, 2008, just one day after he arrived in the States.

With lots of prayer and constant medical attention, Adams recovery has amazed anyone who meets him.  In fact, Adams is well aware that without these surgeries, he may not have lived.

With Adams now regaining his strength and beginning to walk, the first place he went was Nueva Vida ("New Life") Church, an all Spanish-speaking church.  There he made lots of friends and was asked to share his testimony.

Rather than share his testimony, Adams wanted the focus to be on God and he chose to sing a song honoring his creator.  On July 27, 2008, Adams walked (without any crutches!!) from the back of the church to the stage and took his place with the microphone.

I had the honor of sitting in the audience and as my eyes began to fill with tears, I looked around.  To no surprise, there were many people with tears of joy!

Adams has one final doctor's appointment and if all is well, he will be given permission to return to the Dominican Republic.

In closing, I ask...Do YOU Believe In Miracles?

Since the inception of G.O. Ministries, our vision has been to offer ministry and missions in a new, more relevant way.  Because of our innovative reputation, others often look to us as an example for world ministry.

Our philosophy is simple: to use the talents God has given us to deliver a timeless message in a very relevant manner.  As part of this, we regularly are invited to participate at various conferences nationwide.

One of those conferences is the North American Christian Convention (NACC), held this year in Cincinnati, Ohio.  This week-long conference was home to more than 5,000 attendees, pastors, and missionaries from around the world.

While we're still evaluating whether it was the smell of the freshly-brewed Dominican coffee samples we offered at our booth, or the stunning new banners we displayed, one thing is for sure...our booth was packed with visitors!

For me, attending this conference was an excellent reminder that it takes a team of people (with various roles) to make the mission of G.O. Ministries possible.  Often, we think about "missionaries" as individuals living overseas in remote areas of the world.  While this is true, it would be possible without the support of state-side missionaries.

Part of my role with G.O. Ministries is the responsibility for our marketing, brand, and "corporate" image.  Believe it or not, running a non-profit requires a lot of attention to these aspects.

I want to thank my faithful partners who stand behind the work of G.O. Ministries and provide generous support month-after-month.  Because of you, I have the opportunity to attend conferences like the NACC.  Without you, this ministry would not succeed!

THANK YOU!!
