Happy Thanksgiving!
Wow. It's already Thanksgiving. Seems like just yesterday it was summer.
This year will be a thanksgiving to remember. After Christmas, Thanksgiving is my favorite time of year. It allows us time (at least one day) to reflect on all the many blessings we have. We get to enjoy loads (and I mean loads) of food, spend time with family and friends, drink hot cocoa, and just appreciate life.
Like many of you, I often find myself getting caught up in the day-to-day routine and forgetting that, really, everyday should be Thanksgiving. In fact it's important to remember that not everyone will spend the day relaxing, laughing and eating. The reality is that with 80% of the world's wealth in the United States, most of the world won't be carving any turkey.
So, I ask that as you enjoy this day, please remember those that are less fortunate. Hey, maybe you can even take a step further and get involved to help support a child through the G.O. Ministries' G.O. Kids program. This program allows a poor Dominican child to attend a private school without placing another financial burden on their family.

Berman Heads East!
Well, the time finally came. I packed all that I own into a small 4'x8' U-Haul trailer and set out East to "Loo-uh-Vull" (Louisville for the people who aren't in the know).
Now I have to admit that I wasn't looking forward to a three-day, 2,300 mile, road trip by myself...but, God had a different plan and as soon as I hit the open highway my "frown turned upside down". With the music blasting and my cowboy hat on, I cruised along. Thanks to the care package that my friends gave me (thanks Discovery Church), I had plenty of "nutrition" and Red Bull to keep me going.
All-in-all, my trip was pretty sweet! You can read all about it on my blog. I go into detail about my sleeping arrangements (i.e. "Casa Berman") and some of the sites I saw along the way.
Let me tell you...after this road trip, I would do it again...and again...and again!

Hurricane Noel
Devastates The Dominican After many months of anticipation, the fall Discovery Church short-term trip was upon us. I was joined by 13 team members who were excited to visit the Dominican Republic (many for the first time) to serve the people.
Little did we know that our plans were about to change...
When we arrived at the airport in Santiago, the sky was a bit overcast. Thinking little of this (it's a tropical island), we passed through the airport and got onto our bus. We spent the next two days traveling around the island to various work sites and stopped along the way to play with a ton of children.
Then it happened...
On Sunday night, the clouds opened up and a HUGE downpour began. It rained for the next three days non-stop. Flooding, mudslides, power failure, sewage spills, and freezing temperatures were a few of the things that plagued the island.
Often pictures speak louder than words. That couldn't be more true with the CBS News report that covered this disaster, calling this "the worst storm the Dominican Republic has ever seen." Please visit my blog to watch the video.

We're Making Progress!
Thanks to your generous hearts and trust in the mission work I'm doing, I'm very excited to report that last month a few new partners joined with G.O. Ministries.
These new partners, along with those who've been faithful from the start, have provided MUCH NEEDED funding for my medical insurance!
Your funds have also helped to resource the disaster relief efforts of Hurricane Noel. Remember, for every dollar you donate, I give back 50% to the national workers and programs G.O. Ministries' supports, it's a win-win!
I still need to raise additional monthly support to help with travel expenses and the G.O. Kids program; which provides poor children a private education without placing another financial burden on their family.
As many of you know, fundraising is not my strength (in fact, it's pretty much the thorn in my side). That said, please join me in prayer that people's hearts will be stirred to partner with G.O. Ministries.
If you know anyone that shares in the passion of helping others and would be interested in partnering with G.O. Ministries, please forward this email to them.
For those of you that are faithfully giving each month...THANK YOU! Without you, this ministry would not be possible!
