Never was there a time when I, nor you, nor all these kings did not exist. Nor in the future shall we ever cease to be. The soul is undying, unborn, eternal, and is not slain when the body is slain.

Festival of Colors (Holi) In India Holi announces the arrival of spring and
the passing of winter. It is a festival that breathes an atmosphere of
social merriment. People bury their hatchets with a warm embrace and
throw their worries to the wind. Every nook and corner presents a
typically colorful sight. Young and old alike are covered with colors
(red, green, yellow, blue, black and silver). People in small groups
are seen singing, dancing and throwing colors on each other.
There will be musical interludes, the lighting of a bonfire,
burning of an effigy, and the throwing of dry colors on friends and foe
alike. The dry powders supplied by the temple are non stain, but still
guests are cautioned not to wear their "Saturday Best."
Perfoming Indian Classical and Folk dances this year will be Nalini Karimov from Seattle, Puja Allepalli from Denver, Radhika Narasinghani from Boise, and Subalakshmi from Salt Lake City.

Last week America's largest Indian weekly, India Abroad,
came out with an article about Westerners who perform service, like
pujas, for the Indian community. It was entitled "Mantras with an
Accent." Arthur Pais was the author.
On the first page this photo appeared of Caru Das performing a wedding
in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, with text that commenced thusly, "When Salt
Lake City businessman Mahesh Shah and his wife Bhavna recently wanted
their home blessed, they called Caru Das to perform the puja. It wasn't
that there were no Indian Hindus in the Utah city but the Shah couple
has known the Hare Krishna priest for many years. Besides, they had
also invited American business associates to the ceremony. And Das
could translate the prayers into English....."
Later, inside its own box, this story and photo appeared, with the Title, "The Lord built a Temple as a Prank." Read More

Exciting Project Currently Underway
Two storage sheds as well as the barn for the cows (basically another insulated storage shed) had to be moved out of the way before we can
erect the Auditorium. This latter is being manufactured
in Texas and should arrive unassembled in two to three weeks.Vai had called Dan the welder and the local R and N Crane company.
Yesterday they collaborated to move the sheds about 50 feet to the
west, up and over a field fence into the female llama's pasture. With
the sheds out of the way, we can call in the excavator to level and
grade the site.
Ram Kishan Prabhu (Roshan Khandpur) from Los Angeles has taken the first step in major
fund raising for the project (total cost for the building will be $
200,000.00) by asking for and receiving a $ 5,000.00 donation from
Avadesh Agarwal. He and his wife Uma had traveled here with Ram Kishan
to our Festival of India last fall. This large donation from afar may
inspire local Utahans, who will more directly benefit from the
Performing Arts Hall, to kindly donate as well. At Shiva Ratri, Dinesh & Kalpana Patel contributed $ 2,000.00. We shall
be happy to honor anyone who can give $ 25,000.00 or more by naming the
Cultural Hall after them or a loved one of their choice.
When not being used for winter festival events, the Cultural Hall will
be an permanent exhibit center. Portable panels and displays will
explain Vedic culture, history, art, philosophy, literature, and
religion, which tourists will be able to peruse at their leisure.
Means to donate for the above. 1) Send a check to Krishna Temple, 8628
S. State Road, Spanish Fork, Utah 84660. 2) Call Caru at(801)
798-3559/787-1510 with Credit or Debit Card Number 3) Go to paypal.com
and credit a donation to carudas@earthlink.net.

Humor
Mr. Ginsberg and Mr. Buckley submitted by Jayadwaita Swami
Mr. William F. Buckley, Jr., the politically conservative founder of the magazine National Review,
an opinionated intellectual whose views I have sometimes agreed with,
sometimes disagreed with, and often not known or cared about but whose
skill as a writer I have often admired, died on Wednesday at 82.
Among his other roles, for thirty-three years he served as host and
combatant on "Firing Line," a television program of highbrow discussion
and debate.
An article today in The New York Times about Mr. Buckley and his program relates an anecdote told by Richard Brookhiser, a
conservative writer and a frequent guest on the program:
And there was the time that Allen Ginsberg asked Mr. Buckley's permission, in the middle of an episode, to sing a song in praise of
Lord Krishna.
"That was a howl-sorry, sorry about the word choice," Mr. Brookhiser said. "Bill was very gentle with him. He said of course."
Mr. Ginsberg proceeded to play a long and doleful number on a harmonium, chanting along slowly and passionately, Mr. Brookhiser said.
"And when he was finished, Bill said, 'Well, that's the most unharried
Krishna I've ever heard.' "
