TIME IS YOUR MOST IMPORTANT ASSET
To be
successful you should develop techniques for getting the maximum return from the investment of your
time. Use your time efficiently to solve
one problem at a time. There is no such
thing as multitasking. You can only do one thing at a time. Set priorities in relation to your
goals. Don't waste time on low-impact
matters.
To best
manage your time consider the following:
-
Screen
yourself from unwarranted interruptions.
-
Learn
to delegate.
-
Take time to plan.
-
Concentrate on important things.
-
Disregard
trivia.
-
Think
in terms of objectives instead of activities.
-
Make
most decisions quickly.
-
Speak
and write concisely.
-
Avoid
procrastination.
Treat your
time as the precious and limited resource that it is.
Before you
begin, think for a moment about time.
Can you define it? Probably not.
The dictionary defines time as; "a nonspatial continuum in which events
occur in apparently irreversible succession".
This definition is not very helpful.
A better definition is Ben Franklin's well-known definition: "Time is
the stuff of which life is made."
If you begin
thinking in those terms, you are already on your way toward some drastic
changes in the way you live, from this moment on.
If you need
help with your business take the time to call a SCORE Counselor. A SCORE Counselor can help you solve problems
and plan for the future. Contact SCORE at 314-539-6600 Ext. 242, M-F 10am to
3pm or go to www.stlscore.org.

Improve your Business with a
SCORE BUSINESS SCAN
The SCORE Business Scan is a
process where a team of experienced SCORE counselors are assigned to
review your business from a total perspective at a snapshot in time. It is designed to provide you a picture of
your business as viewed through the eyes of experienced counselors as they
compare your management, operations, marketing and finances with like or
similar businesses.
The SCORE Business Scan is divided into
five sections:
-
Background
-
Management
-
Operations
-
Marketing
-
Finance
Each section is designed to analyze your
specific business and present you a summary of the counselor's findings and
represents their best judgment as to the status of the conditions present
during their evaluation. The SCORE Business
Scan is intended to highlight areas of your business where further
evaluation may be warranted or improvements could be made. Counselors identify shortfalls or areas
where additional metrics or improved tracking methods are recommended.
During the SCORE Business Scan
you the business owner will be the final determinant as to the level of
involvement by yourself or your employees.
The lead counselor will coordinate all activities through you or
designee and will be responsible for keeping everyone informed about the status
of the team.
At all times the SCORE Business
Scan team has but one goal in mind and that is you help you in any way we
can to foster and strengthen your business.
You control the process as you desire and achieve the benefits of using
experienced counselors on a confidential basis.
Contact SCORE, St. Louis if you are interested in a Business Scan for your small business. You can speak to a counselor at any of our offices:
