| Spin for Hope: A 3-hour Cycling Event! |
It's not too late to register!!
Spin for Hope is a three hour indoor cycling event for a great cause - the American Cancer Society's fight against cancer. Register as an individual and cycle for the entire three hours or form a team and take turns cycling.

Fitness Corner: In an Exercise Rut? By: Sue Adams |
Particularly during this gloomy and mundane time of the year, many of us find ourselves in an exercise rut. For many of us when we first started working out we made big gains quickly. Now we notice we are stuck in one place. Not seeing any improvements or possibly even going backwards a little bit.
Every exerciser eventually reaches a plateau, a place where all progression stops. However, you are not there forever! In early stages of training, progress is made very quickly. That is because the muscles and the brain are working together. The brain recruits muscle fibers that were previously unused; bringing those fibers into action speeds up your progress. You are not actually building muscle size; that takes time. Your body also learns how to do things more efficiently stimulating faster gains. If you have been training for a while, you are now actually building muscle strength and size.
If you notice that you are slipping backwards, take a break. Your body is telling you that you are overdoing it and you need a rest.
If you notice that you are pretty much staying the same, not making any gains but, not slipping backwards then you need to change your exercise routine! You are doing the same exercises, the same way, day after day and not challenging your body enough. This holds true for weight training and cardiovascular training!
If you are not sure how to change up your routine then please consult with one of our Personal Trainers. You also might want to try some different group fitness classes that are being offered throughout the Total Fitness Network.
