Greetings!
TESL Ontario is planning to introduce a new accreditation category, the "TESL Ontario Mentor Certificate of Accreditation", and set up another online registry, the "Registry of TESL Ontario Accredited Mentors", in the near future.
The main objectives that TESL Ontario pursues in establishing Mentor Accreditation and the Registry of Accredited Mentors are as follows:
- recognizing the TESL mentors' professionalism and their contribution to the field of TESL training and ESL instruction,
- making it easier for new ESL practitioners, accredited TESL program directors, and TESL practicum students to find and contact experienced instructors who are willing to share their experience with and provide mentorship to those who are new in the field of TESL, and
- putting in place more reliable and consistent standards for the TESL Ontario approved mentor qualifications.
The TESL Ontario Mentor Accreditation will be awarded free of charge to TESL Ontario members who submit an application and meet the required accreditation standards. Also, please note that mentoring activity is recognized as professional development by TESL Ontario.
As an initial step, TESL Ontario is conducting an opinion poll to get an indication of TESL Ontario members' and LINC/ESL program administrators' interest in participating in this mentorship program. Filling out the poll will take approximately 2-5 minutes. It will be open for four weeks, until September 14, 2012.
To access the poll, if you are an instructor, please click onhttp://fluidsurveys.com/surveys/teslon/tesl-mentor-accreditation-instructors/,and if you are a program administrator, please click on http://fluidsurveys.com/surveys/teslon/tesl-mentor-accreditation-program-administrators/
The information you provide will help us take the steps that are right for you and your association.
Best Regards,
