Post TESL Certificate Training (PTCT)

PTCT is training in specialized language instruction. It will equip instructors with knowledge and skills to enhance their teaching qualifications and expertise in specialized language training content areas.

TESL Ontario has received five PTCT Course accreditation applications to date. Providers and training include:

• Canadian College of Educators: Advanced Pedagogical Grammar (approved and posted on TESL Ontario's website)
• Canadian College of Educators: Occupation Specific Language Training(under review)
• Toronto Catholic District School Board: PD Partner Training (under review)
• Humber College: Language Training for Employment (under review)
• New Media Language Training: LearnIT2teach Stage 4 (under review)

TESL ONTARIO CONFERENCE - November 8 - 10, 2012

This is TESL Ontario's 40th Conference, please come and celebrate with us "TESL Ontario at 40:  Thriving, Excelling, Sharing, Leading".  The Call for Submissions is posted on the website:  http://www.teslontario.net/conference/presenters. 

In light of our Annus Horribilis, to quote the Queen, which we all experienced this year as far as our funding is concerned, I am happy to report that in our approved contract for the LINC Conference Assistance Project we were able to preserve 710 seats for LINC and ELT teachers.  We also applied for 250 spaces for ESL teachers with the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship, but the contract is not in place as yet.

Many of you will have heard or read the rave reviews for "War Horse", a production playing at the Princess of Wales Theatre.  We have obtained a limited number of tickets at special group rates for that performance, and also for the musical  "La Cage aux Follies", playing at the Royal Alexandra Theatre.  Details and ordering information will arrive with your conference package in a few months. 

TESL ONTARIO MEMBER SURVEY

We would like to thank you again for your participation in this survey, there was a participation rate of 30% of members, a high number.  The winner of the membership survey draw for a Free 1 Year TESL Ontario Membership has been selected and will be contacted shortly.  We will be working on data analysis over the summer and will summarize the information in a power presentation at the Conference, as well as make it available on our website and include an article in Contact.
