Dear TESL Ontario Member,
September has arrived and TESL Ontario is gearing up for our 39th Annual Conference - Language Learning: A focus on Success which is located at the Sheraton Centre Toronto on October 27th - 29th, 2011.
The Conference Brochure has now been posted on our website at: http://www.teslontario.org/conference/conference-brochure/. We hope that by posting the brochure early you will have ample time to plan your conference experience.
Please take the time to fill out the Session Selection Form (page 18 of the Conference Brochure) before registering for the conference, as this will speed up the online registration process.
Please note that online conference registration will be open from 12 p.m. (noon) on September 28, 2011 to midnight on October 18, 2011.
As conference registration is strictly electronic again this year we would like to encourage you to contact your credit card company BEFORE you try to register for the conference and ensure that:
- Your credit card is setup for online use
- You know your Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode passwords. (This is the biggest issue with credit card processing.)
- You have the actual credit card, so you can verify the 3 or 4 digit number on the back of the card.
- You have updated your mailing address with the credit card company if you've moved or if it's a company credit card, you know the address to which the statements are being mailed. (This is the second biggest issue with credit card processing.)
If you have any questions about using your credit card online, please contact your credit card company in advance. These are not registration issues that TESL Ontario can help you with.
TESL Ontario has arranged for a discounted group rate of $209.00 plus taxes per night at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel.
Please click here to reserve your room online or contact the hotel directly at 416-947-4955 ext. 4440 or 1-888-627-7175 and indicate that you are attending the TESL Ontario Conference.
To receive the group rate, please make your reservation before September 26, 2011.
NOTE: the group rate is available 3 days before and 3 days after the conference, if you wish to arrive early or depart late and enjoy the City of Toronto!
ESL Week Deadline Extended to September 30, 2011
With September comes a new school year, an exciting way to begin the new school year is with ESL Week projects. With this in mind, we have extended the entry deadline to September 30, 2011.
There is a large selection of individual and group activities to choose from for learners, instructors and organizations.
TESL Ontario will award one $500 Grand Prize for a single winner across all entry categories, and first place winners will be recognized from each category for which enough entries were received. All winning entries will be published or displayed in TESL Ontario publications, on the TESL Ontario website or social media applications where appropriate.
ESL week is a significant part of our efforts to raise the awareness of the importance of English language learning opportunities for new comers to Canada. All individuals involved with learning, teaching and organizing ESL in Ontario are invited to participate.
