How to tell ...

At the festival 'J'ing butterfly caterpillars will be placed where you can watch them pupate into a chrysalis. Chrysalises will be placed where you can what adult butterflies emerge. Bring your camera!

There are signs to show when they are close to pupating and close to emerging. Since they hang for about 24 hours and they start to color up hours before they emerge, it helps to know when to watch closely.

See photos of these signs!

Native Florida Butterfly Exhibit

The new exhibit is almost finished! Measuring 30' x 50', The exhibit will be filled with nectar plants and hundreds of Florida native butterflies. Some of the species flying are Monarch, Red Admiral, Great Southern White, Zebra Longwing, Gulf Fritillary, Julia, Spicebush, Palamedes, Zebra Swallowtail, Buckeye, White Peacock, Black Swallowtail, Sleepy Orange, Cloudless Sulphur, Skippers, and Duskywings.
